So much discussion while I was asleep. The last time @Summerabbacat suggested a cat for the family there was a danger of a cat/dog fight. Thanks @chris191070. This could be the solution. 2 cats? Is this what is needed to cope with a dog?

I'm pleased that so many of you have mentioned or suggested "family" in your comments. I would like the love and support of family and extended family to be a theme.

bibliopole - Word of the Day - Wed Jul 31, 2024
Paladin commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
Excellent question @Leslie Lofton. I wasn't able to find '-pole' but I did find '-poly' (which is also from Ancient Greek pōléō, “I sell”) and is used in Economics with words such as monopoly, oligopoly, duopoly, etc. -
There could be some more tears to come so be prepared @Mancunian.

Thanks for your comments @Ticklishboy30. Yes Ollie has grown but so have Chris and Andre as a result of them all being together. You hope Andre and Chris decide to get married. That looks like fishing for spoilers. You deserve to get tickled for that.
-
Thanks @Cane23. Yes Bradley has developed as a character since we first met him. His dad is certainly proud of him. We will see more of him in future chapters.

Yes @Summerabbacat I do remember Put Another Log on the Fire. It wouldn't surprise you to know that it was not one of the songs Jamie sang that night. Thank you for your comments about Ollie. He is thriving with his dads.

Thank you @VBlew, @chris191070, @Mancunian, @Cane23 and @Ticklishboy30 for commenting on the section about sextortion. It's insidious and has serious consequences. We all need to help keep others, especially young people, aware and safe.

bibliopole - Word of the Day - Wed Jul 31, 2024
Paladin commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
Of course the root word here comes from the Ancient Greek biblia, which had the literal meaning of 'scroll' (with a nod to papyrus which was used to make scrolls) and later came to mean 'book'. biblia became the English word 'bible' with its specific reference to the Hebrew Bible or the Christian Bible. As @Bill W has commented it has, in the form 'biblio', become the base for quite a collection of words related to books. -
This has me very curious as well. It seems nobles from Prince to Viscount have eyes that are different shades of blue, and Barons and Baronets have eyes that are shades of green. Billy has gold eyes and he is Greg's Lord Stewart. Gold and silver are metals. Does this mean that Greg will have a position with another noble like Billy's position with Greg. I'm really looking forward to finding out.

The next week the boys were still off school and university. Tyron was splitting his time between being part of the awesome4some and responding to issues my customers had logged. Because he didn’t have university commitments Tyron was happy to work the additional hours. Besides the extra money it now also built up his holiday and sick leave entitlements. Usually, Jackson went with him, and I realized they worked well together. They were becoming closer friends. Ollie, Bradley, Riley and Coo

It seems Ricky has answered "Can't I figure out who I am". Now he is faced with coming out with his parents and then with his fans. Hopefully they won't care.

Nice catching up with this Levie, Greg and loving family. All looking good again, but for how long. They can cook breakfast for me any time.

I agree @Cane23 that Snowy is very foggy when it comes to the concept of this musical. The approach needs more to it than, fall in love/fall out of love/fall in love again/live happily ever after. Let's hope something comes out of the songs the students have selected. On the personal front Tim and Guy are doing well, with plenty of prompting from Ben.

A nice relatively low key start to a very welcome first chapter to the new book. As @Al Norris commented those small and mundane details are fleshing out the story and giving us more insight into Greg's character. Like many others, I'm keen to know the significance of Jake's eyes.

Adam is going to find out what living without his strict routine is like. I suspect that Kai will help him cope, in more ways than one. So next chapter Adam meets the Doc, who seems to mellow with impending fatherhood.

callipygian - Word of the Day - Sun Jul 28, 2024
Paladin commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
I found this reference that makes some sense: early 19th century (used to describe a famous statue of Venus): from Greek kallipūgos, from kallos ‘beauty’ + pūgē ‘buttocks’, + -ian. I can easily see 19th century art fanciers wanting to talk about how much they like butts but sound educated and erudite at the same time. My question is: how many times will callipygian be used in GA stories now? -
‘And Ben doesn’t know that yet?’ Hmm I'm not convinced. The way Ben is acting he either knows or very, very strongly suspects. Either way it's a good thing. I really loved: ‘Fucking hell. I could kiss you!’ I exclaimed. ‘Err . . .’ I laughed, then said, ‘Don’t worry, mate. I won’t.’ I think it reassured him, but he was watching me quite warily after that! 😇

More Brotherly Bonding & Meeting Another New Friend
Paladin commented on Ticklishboy30's story chapter in More Brotherly Bonding & Meeting Another New Friend
Tickling is so loving in this brotherhood it's impossible to imagine any of them not being ticklish. More concern being expressed about the old land containing dangers. Hmm will they manage to stay out of trouble? -
Colin shouted, “Enough! Jason and I aren’t going to skinny dip.” A slight smile formed on his lips. “At least not when you two dirty old men can watch us.” I resent that comment. I mean just because I want to watch Colin and Jason skinny dipping in the pool. 🏊♂️

This wonderful story has only become better chapter by chapter. We are seeing a major change in Phil's attitude to life and people and what could possibly be an amazing change in his living arrangements. The house is large and now there is a large cast of possible inhabitants. Can't wait to see how this all plays out.

What Sort of Rabbit Has Feathers?
Paladin commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in What Sort of Rabbit Has Feathers?
Some would say indecently exposed -
Adam and Kai both want the same thing; to live together as lovers. But they want to go slow like their letters. While that is nice, they still need a dose of Doc and Megan's directness.

I started late on this story and have just caught up. I am thoroughly enjoying it. I love all the characters and the alternating POV. Megan and Doc are the perfect foil for each other and provide the right level of fun. Adam and Kai also perfect for each other. I'm looking forward to learning more of their developing relationship. Great writing.

What Sort of Rabbit Has Feathers?
Paladin commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in What Sort of Rabbit Has Feathers?
The Xpress post is as vague as a horoscope. It could apply to anyone and possibly everyone. It looks like the band should be renamed The Bitches and Jamie find his voice elsewhere. I'm beginning to like the rabbit who seems to be about to be exposed. Not by removing a mask but by displaying genitals, which obviously the rabbit doesn't think are ugly.
