I'm astounded that it is possible to transfer a POW to someone else. I assumed that if I wanted someone to have POW for me I would formally approve it, if they decided they didn't want to do it any more then it would come back to me to approve someone else. Not that it would be transferred without my knowledge. Anyway a minor concern in an excellent chapter. One of the many things I like is that as well as his determination to live, Phil has regained his sense of humour and his sense of fun. With those he can't return to be the grumpy old man we first met.

What Happens in Vegas, Well, It Happens Elsewhere Too
Paladin commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in What Happens in Vegas, Well, It Happens Elsewhere Too
I hope we've seen the last of the landlord. $12,400 plus I assume a security deposit of what, a month's rent, to replace carpet in two rooms and clean the kitchen. No, my mistake, he's not the sort of landlord that would replace carpet, just have it cleaned. Certainly just out for himself. -
No real surprise that the drama students recognized him. How quickly will they spread the news that he is in New York. Red may not have modeled safe sex but he did give Ricky good advice about the danger of falling in love with the first guy you have sex with. Pubic hair; trim yes, shave no.

Dating Apps Were Never Meant for This
Paladin commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in Dating Apps Were Never Meant for This
The guy in the rabbit costume is stalking Jamie so he can discover the "real" Jamie. And now Jamie is on the hunt for the "real" rabbit boy. What will they really discover about each other in the process? I'm looking forward to finding out. -
wasserman - Word of the Day - Fri Jul 19, 2024
Paladin commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
What an interesting word. In English it is a malevolent version of a merman. It is from the German "wassermann" which had the meaning "sea sprite" apparently without anything sinister, but also has the meaning Aquarius. The German "Wassermann sein" meaning "to be (an) Aquarius". Oh for the age of Aquarius -

Maybe supporting them is just too chancy -
Thanks for commenting @CincyKris You could be completely correct about Ollie's father (see my response to @Summerabbacat above) and yes Ollie, Chris and Andre are fast becoming a family unit.
-
Thanks @Ticklishboy30. Pleased you enjoyed how the request to have a shower unraveled.
-
Yes @chris191070 Ollie is settling in well with his new Dads and friends.
-
Sorry @Mancunian no spoilers about future events.
-
Thanks @drsawzall. Sorry, I can't guarantee that your hay fever will improve.
-
Don't worry @Cane23, the group of awesome4somes and honorary awesome4somes won't be getting any larger. The showering issue showed that parenting can have unexpected challenges, which can be amusing in retrospect
-
Yes @Al Norris a lot is happening in this chapter and as @Mancunian added, life can be like that. While it is nice when our lives move easily from one incident to another, too often multiple things seem to happen together. Well, maybe that is just my life
-
Thanks for your comments @Summerabbacat both about the story and the bleak weather we have been experiencing. Yes we are learning more and more about Ollie who is responding to the love and friendship surrounding him. His father seems to have been a wonderful influence during his early years. Remember Aristotle "Give me the boy until he is seven and I'll show you the man".

Nice to know you enjoyed binging and looking forward to Andre and Chris. Happy reading.

tachistoscope - Word of the Day - Wed Jul 17, 2024
Paladin commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
tachistoscope is a word and a device that I haven't heard or seen for decades, but certainly brings back memories. There was a time when they were popular and used for a wide range of things including training students to be speed readers and rapid recognition of objects. They were also used in studies of subliminal perception where messages could be flashed at speeds below conscience awareness to influence behaviour, especially in marketing. A typical study would be to have a group of people watch a movie during which a message like "eat donuts" would be flashed on the screen subliminally . After the movie they would see how many people choose donuts. Oh for those simple days. -
I woke up first. It felt really strange having a thirteen year old boy sleeping next to me. I tried not to wake him. I looked at him. His chest was gently rising and falling showing he was still sleeping soundly. He looked so innocent, peaceful, vulnerable. I felt this love welling inside me. A love that made me want to support, nurture and protect. I knew I wasn’t Ollie’s father but I was experiencing a father’s love for a son, and last night he’s called us his dads. I was now wide

I can't talk for Adelaide and Mt Gambier @weinerdog but in the 80's where I live (just north of Sydney) we had a Pizza Hut Restaurant, dine in, complete with salad bar. They don't exist any more. Sydney also had some Italian restaurants that served pizzas, although they tended to concentrate on other Italian cuisine. Starting in the 70's there were recipes for home made pizza in popular recipe books. I love home made pizza using a good yeast dough base. Then mix together tomato paste, red wine, crushed garlic and mixed herbs. Spread over the base and then top with whatever you want. Yummy.

Another wonderful and loving story @Mark Ponyboy Peters. Thank you for posting and I'm certainly looking forward to "Song for Guy".

True, but Tim Tams are better Lachlan loves being party host. Delivery offer still open.
-
@Mancunian you are anticipating some things happening on Ollie's birthday. Well, in a future chapter you will find out.
-
I agree with your comments about Ollie seeming to be too happy @Mancunian and @Summerabbacat. I've avoided talking about therapy as I didn't want writing about therapy sessions to be part of this story. I've included some comments that suggest that therapy is happening in the background for Ollie and Andre. While he is dealing with massive trauma, Ollie is a "glass half full" type of guy.
-
I agree @Mancunian that the guilty plea is a relief for everyone. You will read more about the awesomefoursome in future chapters.

You will learn more about Ollie's mum and I hope we won't have a falling out

Yes, the popular media would have us believe that child abusers are all gay, but the scientific evidence is that most offenders are heterosexual males.
