  1. Iran nukes Israel, Israel nukes Iran, Pakistan nukes Israel, and India nukes Pakistan and Iran. What's wrong with a limited nuclear war in the middle-east and near east? If big nations don't touch the affected countries, then it gets limited. If they do, we are all going to be screwed.
  2. Most likely survive through some kind of coincidence. Subways used to be old bomb shelters, so pray you are a good commuter. (It's actually a good idea to hide in the transit tunnels and use them to get out of major cities) Additionally, Australian population in the desert might be able to survive along with the Arctic researchers and Space station guys. Now should we survive, what doesn't kill us, will most likely kill us in the decades of nuclear winter. Afterward, the last remnants of mankind can try to figure out what's next.
  3. The choice is your own. I can make a million points that sound pretty and articulate the facts of life to you, but I suspect you already heard it. What can I say to change your mind about the world? Nothing if you are resolute about it. Yet, I believe you still care about the world and about your life, if you did not then you would not have came on here voicing this issue. We are all here for you. Yes, we can't be there for you like give you a shoulder to cry on, an ear to speak your mind, or a hug to give you the comfort that you need and should be given. Yet, what your friends here on GA can do is give you hope. It's the last thing in the world between life and death; it is what people throughout the ages have lived on. I hope that you keep the hope alive; the decision is your own to make.
  4. Some one has read too many issues of Crisis on Infinite Earth, Myr, you looking guilty! DC comics did the same thing to divide the three ages of Comic books; Golden age back-stories, Silver Age, DCAU age, and now. Batman's origin story changed a few times over the years as one example from people that know their character backgrounds.
  5. Enjoyable film, impressive cinematic and Leonard Nimoy was perfect with blend of surrealism and honesty. The alternate universe thing was fun and interesting. Uhura was one of the few women not attracted to Kirk on TOS, now we know why. (She's into emo's.....I mean Vulcans, hehe!) Hot characters, Christopher Pine, hot ass and package. Sulu looked adorable. Then Finally, Checkov, I love you!!!!! 9/10, until they add the gay character promised by Gene Roddenberry decades ago, I cannot in good conscience give it a perfect score.

    Fighting Back

You are the hero of this story.
  7. Happy Birthday!!!!
  8. Yum! (That's all I got to say)
  9. SG1 had a great run 10 seasons is difficult to manage, so congrats. If RDA did not leave, then it could have gone for season 20, but MacGuyver needed to stop some terrorists, while building a spaceship out of paper clips and a Alkaline batteries. Stargate Atlantis was axed too soon and it was getting interesting again with the introduction of the Lost Tribe of Asgard, the little grey guys are cute in a sort of "I like probing ass" type of way. Firefly should have gone to Universal and not Fox, which is too much about reality TV. The only show I watch on Fox is House, which they are slowly destroying with too much melo-drama and not enough medical mystery. I don't like Grey Anatomy type drama, it's like the worst soap ever, why are you destroying my favorite drug popping, nihilistic, and socially awkward doctor? (By the way for shippers, the bets are 2-1 for Cuddy to stay with House, 5-1 for Wilson to realize he's actually gay/bi and go with House, and 10-1 for Cameron to dump Chase and hook up with House)

    Yet another post

Aww, cool blue, I love comics! As for the Belly, I gained 6 pounds this week of finals; it stinks, but I knew it was coming. 3 weeks of dieting and losing 20 pounds versus 5 days of sit in studying and take-out. Go for jogs and cut down on the food intake slightly and progressively.
  11. Blasphemy!!!!! Time to send some one to the ice planet of death! Some Trekkies are a little extreme, one reason why I left the Church of Trek.
  12. Can I still propose to you?

    Star Trek

There's also another issue to with regeneration. The time lords still must die after a certain amount of regeneration, so how many more times can you kill him before you get the "You killed Kenny effect"? According to wiki 13 regeneration is max. We're on the 11th Doctor, not good odds. You could break the rules, but it is still a little off.
  14. As a writer, for me, it depends on what I write. Some stuff is episodic like Love and Again with certain small arcs for fun, but other stories are grander and pretty extreme. Exodus will have a chapter 2 in about a month; it took me about three months to write it looking back and forth at notes and technology concepts. Episodic is easier to write and shorter in concept. Grand stories like B5 are extremely difficult and it took JMS years to do it. I realize his difficulty, now.
  15. No one really knows now if it was emulation or if it was just Ron Moore doing his show running with little story concepts from Ira behr. We know now that Ron could do large Arcs like he did in Battlestar Galactica, so it could have been a bit of both.
  16. New Hampshire is the only one with any amount of great doubt. Maine should be fine. New Hampshire is a weird mix of Libertarian principles and the state motto is "live free or die", my favorite state motto.
  17. DS9 tried, but Berman only let it go so far as one episode, "In the Pale Moonlight", which is now ranked as one of the top 10 episodes of Star Trek both in reception and controversy. If Ira Behr and Ron Moore both had their say; Star Trek would never had needed a restart. Think 4400 government conspiracy mixed with Battlestar Galactica occupation arc, all based on Cardassia after the Dominion war, what you get is a show that take Star Trek planet-side in the future where people have everything they need, but still have issues over politics and policy with one another. Interpersonal conflicts and political conflicts could have brought the 24th century into the early 21st century. For their independent sci-fi series: The 4400 was good, but Ira Behr lacked focus on the storyline to follow through. He was one of the conceptual writers for the Borg on TNG, so he is brilliant conceptually; he just needs a stronger pairing. Ron Moore is the famous show runner of the successful and powerful Battlestar Galactica's re-imagining, but where his failure might be found the last seasons drift and long winded patterns without closing out arcs. Those two guys needed one another without Berman's intrusion into Star Trek show running; they are great show-runners independently, but they each are missing what the other has.
  18. The hard part has already passed. The next deal is whether they can get the signatures; I think the proximity to Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont will keep any political battle fair in Maine and New Hampshire due to the financial and grass root limitations on the anti-gay marriage coalition.
  19. It's better not to have huge fanfare. CNN did not record the victories immediately or with much attention either and the national anti-gay movement is not reciprocating as quickly without the fanfare. Luckily, I think they are giving up the northeast, which in turn means the mid-west might become the real battleground soon.
  20. I agree, my IT professor showed us one of the old phones; they were huge! (Both literally and figurately for the advancement) However, I still am convince that Star Trek aided in the development of cellphone technology and micro-processing.
  21. Happy Birthday, Xeran! :worship:
  22. I have to give it to DS9 for trying to balance idealism with reality. Although in a head to head battle, Babylon 5 and DS9 should both be ranked in their category of sci-fi. For movies, I love Wrath of Khan, which has the best elements and themes of movies with a Star Trek setting. Birth, life, and death along with aging and progress. Khan himself is a product of new age genetic engineering and Kirk is visibly older with the need for glasses. Genesis is the beginning of new life, while paralled to the death of Spock. Hands down the best movie in my view. Star Trek IV; Voyage Home, I just like how the 23rd century meshed with our modern technologies. By the 1980's, cell phones imagined on Star Trek had become practical in reality with the first models. Medical equipment had grown and developed due to Star Trek. It's another parallel between reality and fiction. It makes you grateful to have Star Trek. Star Trek: First Contact, Epic space battle and a story of mankind's first steps towards exploration after a nuclear war. It's a story of hope and reaching out to our greatest potentials. There is also a 2nd level allusion that you can acknowledge technologically, humanity destroyed ourselves through nuclear war. The Borg represent the technological nature of humanity and how discovery if used wrongly can destroy us, but the Enterprise crew represents the original Trekkian premise of Benign technology used to raise us beyond our pity difference and reaching a new level of galactic awareness. Well that's it for my film critiquing. Join me next time, when I take on the Star Wars Trilogies: Why I hate the new one? :P

    Star Trek

Darn, I want a Bat'leth, now! The fifth one was the worst movie, hands down. The best was the second with Wrath of Kahn. Although, First contact was fun; it would have been number 1 if they just let Lt. Hawk say he was gay instead of putting it in scripts. Dr. Who? Watched the new series and the old ones for Dr. Who, it's a mix bag, too. I don't know, some of it I like, but others I could have done without. For Star Trek, grew up on TNG and DS9, then became a teenager around Voyager. College was filled by Enterprise, which I hated to watch for the first two seasons, third season was okay, and fourth season was definitely good. Enterprise wasn't even Star Trek title first, because it was just Enterprise for two seasons. You can say the series was non-canon.
  24. Maine signed, now it's New Hampshire. Confirmation of Mark's happy Shout! 5th state to approve gay marriage Horray!
  25. You don't have to believe in an afterlife per se, but how about the natural recycling that goes on and your contribution back to humanity, the world, and the universe at large.
