In Which Aidan Learns Lies Tend To Have Short Legs
Former Member commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in In Which Aidan Learns Lies Tend To Have Short Legs
I won’t be surprised if we find out in a few years that a certain ‘virgin’ Batchelor wasn’t as truthful as he claimed he was. You can’t be that confident and good-looking, yet willing to lose your virginity as part of a reality TV show, unless there’s some other factor. If religion were the reason, I doubt his god would sanction the circus he’s currently participating in. So he either wasn’t a virgin when he was on the show or he had already lost his virginity to a man. ;–) Full disclosure: I do not watch the show. I watch Jimmy Kimmel Live which talks about the show regularly, so my information is secondhand. I think all TV dating shows are silly and that the participants are actually seeking attention rather than companionship. ;–) -
An obituary was mentioned too. I’m guessing it’s for Harris’ wife and daughter. I hope the other contents of the safe were just as personal and non-work related. The cleaner took photos of the contents of the safe so things could be replace exactly the same way they were when it was opened. I wonder if Harris was clever enough to use that ancient strand of hair on the door (of the safe) trick? Something simple like that might let Harris know that things had been tampered with! I’m surprised that the cleaner didn’t search Harris’ desk drawers too. But anything taped to the back or under a drawer was safe too… ;–)

In Which Aidan Learns Lies Tend To Have Short Legs
Former Member commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in In Which Aidan Learns Lies Tend To Have Short Legs
We all knew as soon as Aidan decided to try an app that there was only one person who was guaranteed to be mutually interested! Young men tend to obsess about virginity and experience. Society obsesses about female virginity and experience too, but it either expects straight men to defile one bad girl or get their experience on the down low! If more straight guys openly fooled around with each other, maybe our little bunny would have lost his V-card sooner… ;–) -
Chapter 2 - Snuggles
Former Member commented on Cole Matthews's story chapter in Chapter 2 - Snuggles
I thought this story was supposed to be less confusing than Salix Babylonia! ;–) Nothing from you is ‘straight’ forward, is it @Cole Matthews? ;–) Okay, we’ve met the diabetic cat who loves the scent of its trained human and even discovered it has a cat-name as well as its human-given name. The next prompt doesn’t seem likely to lead to a connection between last chapter’s artist and the Rubenesque feline. Did the human infect the cat with obesity or did the cat train the human to overeat? ;–) -
At least Harris isn’t hiding cash sealed in a ziplock bag in the freezer or toilet tank – or inside a fake book ‘hidden’ on a bookshelf! ;–) But you’d think he’d not only find a more unusual place to stash the safe, but also get one with a more sophisticated locking mechanism. Maybe a digital keypad? I’ve seen encrypted portable hard drives with fingerprint unlocking. Bio scan technology might be too expensive for an individual, but surely the FBI doesn’t expect their agents to keep all their secret documents in the office safe! ;–) Or did they slash the budget in favor of a more ancient technology? ;–)

I think there’s a law here in California that mandates nudity in hot tubs (honoring their Japanese origin). But Idaho has lots of Mormons. Which means lots of repression along with green Jello! ;–)

Chapter 17 Family Sunday Morning
Former Member commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Chapter 17 Family Sunday Morning
I went looking for the porn and didn’t find any! Denmark is the place where they have naked races at their annual music festivals. And people sunbath naked in public parks on their lunch breaks! Do I really have to go looking for porn all by myself? ;–) -
Tom Hanks thanking his Gay teacher in an Academy Award acceptance speech inspired the very fictionalized In & Out and his influence will live on as long as people watch Gay-themed mainstream movies where two heterosexual actors playing Gay characters share an onscreen kiss.

Harris has a whole lot bigger problem than he realizes! There are all sorts of leaks and he doesn’t seem to be even remotely prepared to deal with them. I know the real world FBI is not like the intelligence agencies on TV and in the movies, but shouldn’t there have been something more sophisticated than a standard combination safe protecting his private items? Even my iPhone is more secure (even from the real world FBI – thank you, Tim !) than Harris’ stuff! ;–) I was expecting more traditional behavior in the hot tub! I’m certainly no exhibitionist, but every time I’ve been in a hot tub everybody is naked! I guess things are different when it’s mixed company… especially when they’ve just met. ;–)

Didn’t you have any spare Redshirts wandering around? They’re disposable and they self-replenish on the Enterprise so there’s an endless supply! Next time, just ask Scottie to beam one down for an away mission. ;–) -
gender & sexuality Biphobia, monosexism and pansexuality
Former Member commented on Thorn Wilde's blog entry in The Fantastic Mr. Wilde
I think, because this is about sex and sexuality, many people are uncomfortable talking about it. Some because it makes them think about disturbing incidents in their past. Some because their religion dictates how they think they should feel and believe. Others because they think the topic is somehow icky (personally, I think hetero sex is icky!). Even from our colonial foundation, the US has been anti-sex – and we’ve done a good job of exporting our anti-sex attitude around the world. For most people, Transgender is more of a novelty, a surprise twist in a movie or TV show, a plot device, not something that they experience in real life. It’s my impression that many Transpeople feel they've succeeded if no one knows that their chromosomes don’t match their gender identity and appearance. This adds to their invisibility with the general public which thinks they can always spot the ‘imposter’ – and in far too many cases, will murder the person who ‘deceived’ them when they discover the truth. Transsexuality has existed for a long time. It’s only successful gender-confirming surgery that’s new. There are many documented cases of people who were only identified at death as not matching the gender identity and presentation that everyone had accepted. There are even wives who swore that their marriages were consummated by husbands who were discovered to be physically female. Transsexuality scares many people because it disproves the immutability of gender. It makes people wonder what other hard and fast rules are not as dependable as they think. And it terrifies heterosexual men who are penis-phobic! And as Gays and Lesbians become more accepted by the general public, Trans is a scary threat that the sex-phobic right wing can use to rile up their base – according to them, Transfolk only use the restroom to molest children (not like the good, upstanding cis-gender, heterosexual pedophiles who molest the children of their family, friends, and parishioners*). Pansexuality and gender fluid are new terms to most people. It’s going to take time for their meanings to trickle down to the masses. The subtle nuances will take additional explanation to convey. The monosexuals like me often don’t enjoy the extra self-examination and processing that might turn up unwanted surprises in their own sexuality. The familiar is comfortable and change is stressful. ;–) Older people were often taught that sex was dirty. It will take time for those attitudes to die out, especially in certain regions where the Patriarchy has an incentive to suppress questioning and exploration. The more these ideas get discussed, the harder they fight to censor thinking. * That was sarcasm, by the way. -

An extra benefit for Max leaving the hospital is that he won’t be having to face additional losses like Kyle. I love how even though she’s never met Max, Louis’ mother is already looking forward to spending time with him! ;–) -

Why I Suck at NaNoWriMo
Former Member commented on Thorn Wilde's blog entry in The Fantastic Mr. Wilde
Someone (probably an entitled man) discovered that such a strategy worked for them and decided that it would work equally well for everyone else. We are all individuals and we don’t all work the same. And that’s great! Diversity makes us stronger. ;–) -
What's Going On With Me

I was prescribe Citalopram for quite a while, but neither it, nor the numerous others I was prescribed ever worked for me. I don’t recall ever suffering from side-effects, but most of the time I was on meds, I was also homeless. Anti-depressants work for some people, but not for everyone. ;–) -
thorns trivia How to Swear Without Swearing
Former Member commented on Thorn Wilde's blog entry in The Fantastic Mr. Wilde
In the ‘70s, I can remember a Top 40 AM radio station censoring Paul Simon’s Kodachrome. They overlaid the word ‘Zap’ prominently over his singing the word ‘crap.’ These days, crap passes the US TV censors for Primetime along with graphic violence. But the right wing has blocked nudity on US broadcast TV as being unsuitable for impressionable children. All of their viewers are naked under their clothes, but many don’t use even mild profanity and few deal with graphic violence on a daily basis. Those who seek to protect us from ourselves have very strange priorities. ;–) -
Pitchforks seem to be more appropriate to this story than most of your others… ;–)

Former Member commented on Thorn Wilde's blog entry in The Fantastic Mr. Wilde
As a Gay cis-male, I know how I feel about that topic, but don’t feel as though my opinion has been solicited or would be valued. And I understand that because I object to straight people trying to dictate to my community. It was very interesting to read though. ;–) -

I was checked for all sorts of things in two separate rounds of psychological tests. I don’t ever experience hypomania. But I do get very involved when I can talk about a few select topics. My therapists could never understand how I could be so Out when I was homeless and not be able to use that same energy in other aspects of my life. ;–) -

gender & sexuality How the TV-show Young Americans Broke Down the Gender Binary
Former Member commented on Thorn Wilde's blog entry in The Fantastic Mr. Wilde
I watched most of the earlier seasons of Dawson’s Creek. I either lost interest or had a different work schedule that kept me from seeing the seasons after high school. I mostly watched it because of Jack, but Dawson was cuter. ;–) I remember watching Young Americans, it had a test run as a summer replacement. I didn’t think Jake was particularly convincing as a boy. And I guess the Townie is still out there sailing into the sunset, never allowed to return home to get closure… ;–) I never watched any of the other teen dramas from that era. ;–) -
This Is What Always Happens

I’m kind of all over the place on your chart. I’m mostly in the Introverted column, but I lean towards shy in some cases. I think there are people who see various aspects of me and think I’m in the other two categories too. Some straight people think I’m Obnoxious because I talk about being Gay, but I never talk about what I do in the bedroom like they do. When I get to talk about certain subjects, I can seem Extroverted, but I’m really not. I have generalized anxiety that exasperates my Introversion too. I have trouble making friends IRL. But I talk to people all the time when I’m waiting in lines or for transit. I go way out of my way to avoid sounding like I’m hitting on anybody because I don’t want to lead on any women and I don’t want to get beaten up by an insecure man. But I’m probably flirtier than I intend on occasion. ;–)
