The new restaurant will feature Corsican French cuisine instead of Sicilian Italian? ;–) Corbeau – or do they have a different word in the Corsican dialect? ;–)

Well, when Corbin opens his new business in Greg’s neighborhood, he’ll have a nice centerpiece for the restaurant as well as a fun name: Corvo! ;–)

Well-trained medical personnel know that their (adult) patient is the one they should be talking to and focusing on. They respond to questions from the family without making them feel disrespected as well. Dr Sparks needs some remedial work on his people skills. Gary should not be made to feel as though he’s only observing what’s happening around him. Some of that is probably due to the anemia, but Dr Sparks should not have treated him that way either. He is the patient and he should be central in all the discussions. Harlan has gotten used to taking charge. His research has allowed him to anticipate what the doctors might need before they ask. Having his own medical records is very useful since they wouldn’t already have him in their system. It is very important to keep track of what is happening when a loved one is in a hospital. My family recorded everything that they heard medical personnel tell my father and every procedure that was done to my father when he was in the hospital. Not because we were anticipating legal problems, but because it gave us some control over what was happening. And the staff was more careful because they knew we were paying attention. It gave us something to do while we spent so much time with him. We had a family friend who was a doctor on staff and he would drop by occasionally just to check on my father’s progress even though he wasn’t assigned to my father’s case.

I suppose Elias could donate the raven sculpture (when it’s completed) to Jeremy and the Raven Project to be auctioned or sold off (to Harlan’s Don?) to benefit the Project. Only extremely large non-profits have offices large enough to house a sculpture as large as Elias’ Raven. But large, expensive Italian restaurants could be designed (or redecorated) around an enormous sculpture… ;–)

It’s amusing to me to have all these big, rough, and tough rugby players showing their caring and nurturing sides. ;–)

When the inevitable video gets posted, it’ll definitely go viral when people learn the story behind the wedding. ;–)

    Chapter 10

I’m glad I don’t remember what happens in this story even though bits have reminded me that I did a long time ago. It’s like reading a brand new story! ;–) Clive, Clive, Clive. What the heck are you doing? This is entitlement turbocharged! You somehow think that you deserve to have Ben. Clearly everything that Clive has said about his past is a lie. Why he felt he had to fabricate a history is puzzling. Why he has connections to people who would willingly assist in a kidnapping in broad daylight is another question. Clive has vindictively gotten Ben fired because he scene failed. The question is whether Phil will be as fortunate as Ben. Things aren’t looking good though. Will a student or another member of the faculty notice what’s happening?

    Chapter 49

What you said suggested that Slavic was not an Indo-European language family. Basque is not related to any known language. Finnish, Estonian, and Hungarian are Uralic languages, which is not an Indo-European language family. What more do I have to say to get you to understand? Most languages in Europe belong to one of seven language families which share a common ancestral language. I mentioned the four major exceptions.

    Chapter 49

The Romance languages have connections to Germanic, Celtic, Greek, and Slavic languages and all can be traced back to an Indo-European source language that originated on the Indian subcontinent. Basque and the Finno-Uralic languages stand out as exceptions by having completely different origins.
  11. There is no way anyone would be able to get me on a ropes challenge. I used to joke about those rides where you’re in a harness and you glide down to the other end, but really, I’d never do that either. I’m Risk Averse and I have a fear of heights. ;–)
  12. I’m stubborn. I’ve read many stories I didn’t like, if only to find out if things changed by the end. There are things I don’t care for about this story, but I’m still finding it interesting and worth reading. (But I reserve the right to change my mind.) ;–)

    Chapter 9

Justin’s manner of speech is such a contrast with all these other highly educated men! It’s always amusing to me how wildly varied English people can sound depending on which part of the country they’re from – in some cases, even which neighborhood they grew up in! The differences are so vast that there have been British films that have needed subtitles for the US market. ;–) I know I struggled to understand what was being said when I first started watching Eastenders and their Cockney slang. I started watching it because ’Miss Brahms’ (Wendy Richards) played Pauline Fowler on the show. I saw Dot Cotton’s AIDS Panic arc and maybe a year or two beyond that. My work schedule changed and I lost track go the show. ;–)

    Star of Wonder

Once again, I am reminded why I choose to live in coastal California! I have never driven in the snow. It was bad enough trying to chip away the frost on my car’s windshield with a credit card! (It only happened a few times a year when I lived in Dublin – east of the East Bay hills and more prone to frost in the winter and 100°F+ highs in the summer than is common along the Bay.) ;–)
  18. No, that other cat was sprawled so strangely, it looked like it might be unable to walk (the non-slang definition of lame). ;–)

It seemed like this was a sort of retelling of the fable. Had you chosen a different pairing, it could have been more obvious. I’m not criticizing you.

    Chapter 8

I had been wondering what Alistair was wearing after his clothes were burned in the oven, but we never found out. Just that whatever they were, were unremarkable. I suppose he was able to go home to get more clothes now that they’ve packed up Phil’s things. And Karen & Alistair apparently noticed the smoke before the oven caught fire.

    Chapter 8

I only know what a ‘Close’ is because that was part of an e-friend’s address. In the US, we don’t use that term. We do have courts, cul-de-sacs, and dead-ends though. ;–)

    Chapter 8

It seems a bit rushed, but I guess these guys have known each other online for quite a while. Phil will soon be rid of Karen (who must be really desperate to have turned to Alistair). And they’ve both begun a new phase in their lives. ;–)

Adam & Eva. It could have been more pointed. You could have chosen José & Maria. That would have allowed you to name the guys, Adam & Yves (InTouch for Men, a defunct Gay porn magazine used to run a non-pornographic comic strip with this name). ;–)
