  1. So beautifully written, the emotions just poured off the page, much like my tears. Cancer is an insidious disease that suffering can be long and painful, or short and blessedly pain free; but either way, the end comes when you are never quite ready for it. At least Julie was able to try and bridge the gulf between Matt and Levi. And I am glad that she was kind to Luke, it would have been easy for her to blame him in some way. Levi has lost his everything, and at an age that makes that loss seem like so much more; but then are you ever an age that you are ready to lose your parents or those closest to you. This will be hard for all to come to terms with what has happened in the past and the future both.

    The Sandtrap

Ash and Taggert work well together and just keep getting into a better rhythm. And others are starting to notice how well Taggert does a few things, Bradford noticed how well he rides, and on a horse that gives others some issues. Taggert went into town, but you could tell he wasn't sure. After a few drinks, he did relax some, but when Ash made nothing more than an innocent move, you could see him freeze up. But, for whatever reason, Ash felt something too; and it blossomed when Taggert got in the van and fell asleep leaning against him on the way home. Taggert obviously has a past working on a ranch, maybe growing up on one; but what made him so gun shy?

    Chapter 11

A slow terminal burn that is building into an inferno, when they finally lose control and have sex, it will be amazing... If Austin can stop a wolf from turning while a human, he will be one hell of a strong Alpha, and I think we can all see that coming, the wolves, maybe not yet, although I think that Xavier is at least starting to wonder... There is always one built loudmouth, that never can really back it up, but thinks his size makes him the badass in the group. But he was faced in front of his little group of wannabes, so watch out for his attempt to retaliate, usually a sneak attack. Excellent chapter.

    Dante

Oh, WOW, how totally delicious and so unexpected... Was it just me, or was everyone on a much more even keel? Matt was loving it; but yes, Frank must be told, he will find it very funny...

    Chapter 8

I am glad that Johnny connected with someone that truly understands what he is going through; but that said, what the hell happened with Bruce? Did they break up and I missed it, or did just the distance end what might have been?
  6. Thanks for this look at what is arguably my favorite genre, although only by a hair... Some truly outstanding stories, and some outstanding authors...
  7. So excited, a new western tale from @Headstall. Sounds as if August and Fletcher have a history; but how much of that history is based on the animosity between their families, or is the animosity mostly on the side of the Cooley family, what little that was said makes me think that the patriarch of the family is a true sidewinder filled with hate and rage; but do we know why? Cattleman were always battling anyone that tried to introduce sheep into their areas; although, as August said, some land simply was better for sheep than cattle to start with. Obvious that August fears his father, but is there anyone that his father fears? Oh, I can see so many fabulous ways this story can proceed and can't wait to see how it goes. Welcome back @Headstall
  8. Let's hope this isn't going to be as disastrous as it could be. I am sorry, but I am still pissed at Matt's parents, and I don't know, they are acting extra weird about some of this. Luke was rightfully upset when he realized that nothing was wrong with Matt's dad, and Matt still hadn't told him anything; on the other hand, I certainly understand Matt not knowing how to explain this to Luke. Luke is right, Levi is old enough to have some input on his future, but that being said, he is a minor and since it doesn't appear that Julie has any additional family on her side, Matt will by default become his guardian. Or he would in the US, maybe Australian law is different in this case...
  9. Sounds more than a little interesting..
  10. Lovely chapter, and we can all be a berk from time to time. Glad that Alex finished the piece, let's hope it goes somewhere. Neil finished his piece, and it is truly a work of art. While building furniture might well pay the bills at the moment, he needs to pursue this side of himself as well. They finally talked, and Neil took the lead in reaching out, and in telling his boss as well about who he is seeing. Just a truly lovely chapter.
  11. No, I mean Big Red Soda... It is truly a Texas or maybe slightly a Southern drink. I rarely see it out of this region. I love to make a ice cream soda with it. A big frosty mug of vanilla Ice cream with the Big Red poured over it...
  12. All the diet sodas taste like crap to me. I love me some Big Red... But truthfully, rarely drink any soda, just sort of stopped drinking them, no particular reason. Water, Tea hot or iced, and a variety of juices tend to be my go to. As always, thanks for the look back at the past week.

    Branding Day

I have a significant feeling that at some point, a brand has been applied to Taggert. I grew up in the country in the country and have seen things like that done a few times; usually by some sadistic ass with more authority than sense. Glad to see how much they value Ash, and glad to see that Ash doesn't take advantage of it. If Taggert was branded some place that can't be hidden, that might explain why he wants a private sleeping situation. Just keeps getting better and better.
  15. Everyone involved in this site does an amazing job, thank you all for what you do for us the readers, the authors, and all of those that just come for whatever reason.
  16. Travis is going to regret giving Kendo that ride, at some point this is going to come back to bite him in the ass, perhaps literally. Will is right, Marie needs to man up and either let Fab go, or make sure he is not treating her like he is. I think we are going to be in for some bumpy times.

    Chapter 7

Sometimes, just coming to the realization of who you truly are, and what you need to do to survive and prosper, can be freeing. It was lovely that he tried to pass it on in his own way.
  18. I am having a little bit of trouble being overtly sympathetic to Neil. Some of it probably comes from never being the closet, so I don't get the angst with anyone finding out. I mean I understand not truly figuring it out yourself, and I have known people well into mid-life before they did, but one you come to that realization, grow a pair. I get not throwing a parade depending on where you live or work, but being that paranoid? Adam's conversation with his mother was spot on. And I do think that perhaps Evan is right, somethings have to be done face to face or not at all. I also think he should right or contact his old friends, especially if Yel is not doing well, you can wait too long to try and reconnect. I am torn about the idea of outing someone; I have no issues if someone is virulently anti gay and paying footsie at the same time, that is totally fair game. On the other hand, if someone is married or whatever but truly gay, what is the purpose of doing so, are you just trying to hurt them, or what?
  19. Well, I can't honestly think of a more traumatic way for father and son to meet for the first time; over the boy's dying mother and the father's high school girlfriend that he left for his male partner. I swear, as I was reading the first chapter, I honestly had the thought of this coming down the pike. There are so many ways this could go wrong, but then neither of them really have a choice, do they. Lord, can't wait to see how Luke and the others handle this one...

    Tom

What a wonderful thing for Tom to do, and kudos to Dante for helping him do it. Such a bleak picture painted for so many of the boys and men in this society.
  21. Sawyer deserves happiness, even if just in dreaming...
  22. A final story in the story of arc of the past year in the life of Eric Whitehouse. How a decision to reach out in his loneliness for help leads him to an unlikely hero. Interesting and fully formed characters that ring true from start to finish. Well written and filled with real emotions and the hardship of growing older.

  23. Amazing, can't believe how much Eric's life has changed in just one year. He reached out for help, and found Andy. And the rest is as they say history.
  24. I think that both Eric and Tyler were affected by this reconciliation meeting. Let's hope both for the better.
  25. Eric is learning that nothing is black and white, and the number of grays is uncountable. Glad that Eric and Rob seem to be back on an even keel. The idea of the table is lovely.
