Weekly Wrap Up (May 24 - May 30)
centexhairysub commented on wildone's blog entry in Gay Authors News
No, I mean Big Red Soda... It is truly a Texas or maybe slightly a Southern drink. I rarely see it out of this region. I love to make a ice cream soda with it. A big frosty mug of vanilla Ice cream with the Big Red poured over it... -
Weekly Wrap Up (May 24 - May 30)

All the diet sodas taste like crap to me. I love me some Big Red... But truthfully, rarely drink any soda, just sort of stopped drinking them, no particular reason. Water, Tea hot or iced, and a variety of juices tend to be my go to. As always, thanks for the look back at the past week. -

I have a significant feeling that at some point, a brand has been applied to Taggert. I grew up in the country in the country and have seen things like that done a few times; usually by some sadistic ass with more authority than sense. Glad to see how much they value Ash, and glad to see that Ash doesn't take advantage of it. If Taggert was branded some place that can't be hidden, that might explain why he wants a private sleeping situation. Just keeps getting better and better.

Travis is going to regret giving Kendo that ride, at some point this is going to come back to bite him in the ass, perhaps literally. Will is right, Marie needs to man up and either let Fab go, or make sure he is not treating her like he is. I think we are going to be in for some bumpy times.

Sometimes, just coming to the realization of who you truly are, and what you need to do to survive and prosper, can be freeing. It was lovely that he tried to pass it on in his own way.

Work is good for the soul?
centexhairysub commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Work is good for the soul?
I am having a little bit of trouble being overtly sympathetic to Neil. Some of it probably comes from never being the closet, so I don't get the angst with anyone finding out. I mean I understand not truly figuring it out yourself, and I have known people well into mid-life before they did, but one you come to that realization, grow a pair. I get not throwing a parade depending on where you live or work, but being that paranoid? Adam's conversation with his mother was spot on. And I do think that perhaps Evan is right, somethings have to be done face to face or not at all. I also think he should right or contact his old friends, especially if Yel is not doing well, you can wait too long to try and reconnect. I am torn about the idea of outing someone; I have no issues if someone is virulently anti gay and paying footsie at the same time, that is totally fair game. On the other hand, if someone is married or whatever but truly gay, what is the purpose of doing so, are you just trying to hurt them, or what? -
Well, I can't honestly think of a more traumatic way for father and son to meet for the first time; over the boy's dying mother and the father's high school girlfriend that he left for his male partner. I swear, as I was reading the first chapter, I honestly had the thought of this coming down the pike. There are so many ways this could go wrong, but then neither of them really have a choice, do they. Lord, can't wait to see how Luke and the others handle this one...

What a wonderful thing for Tom to do, and kudos to Dante for helping him do it. Such a bleak picture painted for so many of the boys and men in this society.

Sawyer deserves happiness, even if just in dreaming...

A final story in the story of arc of the past year in the life of Eric Whitehouse. How a decision to reach out in his loneliness for help leads him to an unlikely hero. Interesting and fully formed characters that ring true from start to finish. Well written and filled with real emotions and the hardship of growing older.

Amazing, can't believe how much Eric's life has changed in just one year. He reached out for help, and found Andy. And the rest is as they say history.
-
I think that both Eric and Tyler were affected by this reconciliation meeting. Let's hope both for the better.
-
Eric is learning that nothing is black and white, and the number of grays is uncountable. Glad that Eric and Rob seem to be back on an even keel. The idea of the table is lovely.
-
I do wish that Andy would have said something to Eric about Rob and is ties to Tyler, not sure how Eric will take it when he finds out. Emily really is a good person.
-
Yay for Sandra and Brian. Rob and Eric need to have a conversation soon. Not sure how Eric will feel about Rob being there for Tyler. Hate that we are nearing the end.

Learning Possibilities
centexhairysub commented on northie's story chapter in Learning Possibilities
Eric has more friends than he realizes. Doesn't mean arguments and disagreements won't occur, but talk them out, don't stew. -
Glad that Felicity has gotten herself settled, even if it is temporary. The panic button is a good idea. Without her money, Oliver and the estate may well be in trouble. Of course, Oliver and the old guard around him are circling the wagons, but the truth will get out. Eric and Andy have moved one step closer to repairing the issues between them. I do hope Rob makes a try as well.
-
Still a little disappointed in Rob's behavior and reaction to what happened. Glad that Ben got a posting. Eric enjoyed the dancing, glad to see he went to support Brian. Andy handled that much better than I was hoping, although, I doubt Eric understood the reference to puppy play and watersports.
-
Good on the Standish's for standing up when the discussion about Oliver came about. And kudos to whomever from the firm was represented. Honestly, shame on Rob, Andy, and Adam all, not a conversation for a party like that; plus, Rob was supposed to be Eric's plus one, should have been a little more attentive, not glued to his side but still. Eric needs to realize that not everyone has the reticence he has about sex, nor the issues instilled in him by his parents; he needs to have a discussion but not sure that this point to suggest with whom. Glad that Andy and Adam found out where Felicity was.
-
The more that Eric puts himself out there, the more connections he makes. I think Rob will be a good friend, and we can all use all of those we can get.
-
You go Felicity, and I can't believe Oliver was that stupid.
-
Felicity needs to come out of the closet of abuse and tell the world what at total ass Oliver is.
-
Eric needs to realize there is nothing to fix with him. Gays like all others come in a variety and mix of attitudes and comfort zones. I do love that Andy and Adam are comfortable enough to be affectionate in front of Eric.
