Chapter 42: Final Chapter
Daddydavek commented on Mark Arbour's story chapter in Chapter 42: Final Chapter
Wow, what a great ending to this volume of the Granger Saga! -

Ballbuster Shane squeezes poor misguided Trevor into forgetting about dumping him so he is no longer in harms way. Sentimental, but not very smart with a professional assasin out to get Trevor. But then love is blind. Interesting quote from the chapter: “What about using the old bows from Kookaburra?” Trevor asked. “Not possible, mate; I crushed those and got rid of them right after the conversion; they weren’t something I wanted around the yard, due to the questions they could raise, plus the unlikelihood I’d find use for ‘em." So if what Bridget is concerned about was stashed in the bows, they are gone anyway..... -
I liked the part where Lisa gave Trevor some guff about joining Joel on charters. Interesting chapter. Still hoping that the bad guys slip up soon and get hoisted on their own petards....

Josh is becoming more interesting. Matt and Wade are awesome. Sean is nowhere to be seen. Tiffany is freaked by a bosom buddy. The Senator has grown some cajones. Elizabeth is pissed. Great chapter.

Westie, you wrote: (8) FINALLY tour the British museum IN FULL. That museum has so much that it changes out some exhibits on a regular basis to show other parts of their collection. ERGO, you'll never see all of it! I also haven't seen anyone mention going to see a musical. London's theatre distict is great. We saw Cats there way back in 1986 and it was Fabulous!

Whew! Wade rocks! Great chapter! I liked this line in reference to uncle Roscoe a lot: “So you will find a way to do this, and to embarrass me as you do,” she said. “Go ahead. Do what you must.” “I’m glad you understand,” I said.

An interesting exposition on an ongoing problem. Obviously, the school didn't have a zero tolerance policy on bullying in the first place. In our politically correct 21st century schools, I don't think the school psychologist would have asked how many students were christian or if Jesus would have approved either. Indirect consequences of actions or inactions is a hard concept for some 8th graders and your portrayal made it concrete for them, so good job!

The story was as hot as the locale. AZ weather is way too hot for this old guy! Well CJ you proved again you can write a hot story without even any sex in it!

Interesting article in NYT discussing the jurors thinking. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/17/nyregion/jurors-say-digital-evidence-convinced-them-of-dharun-ravis-guilt.html

A really nice tale and it does seem an appropriate read at St. Patrick's day! I really enjoyed both stories told by the fairie changeling.

When are they are making the movie? If we cast SpongeBob Square pants as Gabe and Patrick as Patrick, then the Crabby shack can be the lab and the Blue light can be the dreaded fisherman! Seriously KC, nice job of spinning another Grim tale.

Steak tartar anyone? Family secrets, mysterious heritages and shape-shifting pets, pests, or privileged bedmates......... Lugh is always so thrifty with details.

3-16-12 ABC News is reporting: A New Jersey jury today found former Rutgers student Dharun Ravi guilty on all counts for using a webcam to spy on his roommate, Tyler Clementi, having a gay sexual encounter in 2010. Ravi, 20, was convicted of invasion of privacy, bias intimidation, witness tampering and hindering arrest, stemming from his role in activating the webcam to peek at Clementi's date with a man in the dorm room on Sept. 19, 2010. Ravi was also convicted of encouraging others to spy during a second date, on Sept. 21, 2010, and intimidating Clementi for being gay. Ravi was found not guilty of some subparts of the 15 counts of bias intimidation, attempted invasion of privacy, and attempted bias intimidation, but needed only to be found guilty of one part of each count to be convicted. The convictions carry a possible sentence of five to 10 years in prison. Because Ravi is a citizen of India, and is in the US on a green card, he could be deported following his sentencing. The legal discussions I read, said that the NJ law is a little different and that the jury could convict under a broad interpretation. I think the jury did so because it wanted to send a message. Deportation back to India doesn't sound like too hard a punishment.

Great chapter. It tidied up a lot of loose ends. It also did some setting of the stage for the next epic in the saga. Which means this portion is coming to an end.... Great job as usual.

A prized new ship built at the Navy yard, to be fitted with iron water tanks as well and manned by a crew selected by Granger; it's truly a plum post. George's personal affairs are being put in order. Somehow the reaction of Granger's father to the news about George's rape by Davina seemed understated.... George's request of the Prince of Wales was also modest. As usual the writing and pacing is just about perfect and the author keeps us guessing as to what is coming next. Additionally, as this tale winds down, we are getting the set-up for the next piece of the epic.

I read RJO's review on chapter 21 and while I agree with it in principle, it is a bit over the top. Having said that, I admit I too am hopelessly hooked on Mark's writing.

Chapter 21 is up and significantly I saw NO mention of any zodiac signs. There were signs that Wade thwarted his mother's plans to some extent and will make her pay for the parcel so a confrontation seems to be on the agenda. A new character was introduced, and he may be interesting but it is too early to tell. As usual the chapter holds your interests and makes you speculate as to what's coming next.

Well he got the land in Idaho out of the trust and some confirmation that his mom wanted it back. Interesting set-up so the cash donors for the campaign could make some money. Wade's plan to sell, but at a price, will not sit well with the Senator's chief strategist and thus the next chapter should be interesting!

The house he builds better have bathing pools too! After being at sea, George really likes to frolic in a bath!
-
He was outed by his college roomate who spied on him using a webcam aimed at his bed by the roomate(the defendent) charged with invasion of privacy and a hate crime by then showing the movie the defendent took on his computer to others in the dorm.

The analyses I've read indicate the prosecution's case was better than expected and that the defense has a big job. The charges are tricky however, and juries are usually a wild card. The interesting question is whether the accused takes the stand. The bottom line is that no verdict can bring back the victim. However, the fact of the trial already is bringing awareness and some accountability to the issue which may spare some future victim of being so horribly "pranked" over their sexuality by an invasion of privacy.

I can see anyone wanting to visit New York City. But I agree with B1ue that a kid who grew up on the beach, even one who ice skates would soon tire of living there. I haven't a clue as to how far his skating will actually take him. If toward the Olympics I would think he would be based in Colorado or Utah. If not that good, then he will not be pursuing it as a career. Perhaps that parcel of ground that has Wade and his nemesis so concerned provides a clue as to where JJ will go? As far as Wade's future in law school, I think he will stay out of Virginia. One school not mentioned is the University of Chicago. However, my choice if I got a vote would be Berkeley. A great school, on the west coast and not Stanford where he is doing his pre-law.

Interesting chapter and interesting chatter in the forum about it. Wade taking on his mother is not always going to result in him coming out unscathed. She is Elizabeth Danfield after all. I suspect like chess, there will be some misdirection ploys and trap setting as well. Riley and his mom are another story. I think Wade will be able to work out solutions that are agreeable to all, but it may take a while. Matt is another part of the equation and that should be solid after all they have been through. Sean could be a bump in that relationship road however as I detect more than a tinge of jealousy from Matt. Nice job of laying out the pieces on the board of life.
