    Operation Wesson

Not one cliffie but two in a single chapter. CJ really is trying hard to retain his title as KING OF THE CLIFF HANGERS. Remember voting is going on NOW until the 25th of February!

    Chapter 3

Okay, why do I get the impression that things are just starting to get interesting? I guess I'll have to wait for the next installment.....Hurry! Please!
  3. Congrats on making the cut! I found voting extremely difficult as I liked all the nominees in all the categories and could only vote for one. All the nominees are talented and gifted storytellers with much to recommend them. If anyone is looking for some good reads, look no further than the nominee list!
  4. I guess Eli is about as good as Brady. Interesting game to the last second.
  5. In my review of the latest chapter I agreed with the posted review by Torontotop and Mark replied: "Look at you. Some guy says he's a top and you automatically agree with him. :-)" I guess Mark has me all figured out! My true inclination is to be contrarian when I'm not being cloyingly agreeable. Concerning the chapter, Wade is interesting but too anal retentive for me, while Brad is too controlling. The CAP series is filled with annoyingly realistic inconsistent people who think and also think with their dicks. Just my cup of tea. Anything too predictable, ordinary or conventional wouldn't be nearly as interesting.
  6. Wayne don't overdue it for a while and take it a little easy. The heating pad or hot water bottle really does help and can be used off and on to help ease the overstressed muscles. I have been there and done that and yes it is hell to get older and not be able to do everything just as fast as when you were forty!
  7. Interesting conversation, but perhaps we are forgetting the historical context. These men always had to hide their 'proclivities' and were very used to dealing with mixed emotions and duplicitious actions. In the context, the two men could have been merely making hay while they can. George was worried what the menage a trois would produce but took a risk. It worked out different than he thought and left him a little lonely, something he was used to despite his many 'adventures'. I do not think the story line was forced or contrived, any more than the mixed conventions of the time were.... However, it still may be a literary ploy to change the relationships among the players and if so, lets see how it plays out. Besides with Calder aboard, perhaps it was better that George was more circumspect.

    Chapter 16

Having read the reviews posted so far, I must say that Torontop says it best IMHO. Great chapter with some interesting twists. Kudos for the scene with Matt holding Riley and promising to run interference for a messy room. Kudos also for the scene with blustering Carl.
  9. Ouch. That chapter closing was tough to read....

    Chapter 31

Fascinating that Captain Calder is so clueless and hidebound in his ideas. The arrogance of the status quo usually founders on the rock of reality. Nelson was the hero and man of the hour for his actions and Calder's point of view is like pissing into the wind. George's love life was less than heroic on the voyage home, but it appears he has made a real ally in Clifton and his well-connected father.
  11. You've just been waiting to use that term. Admit it!
  12. I voted for the Giants, but what do I know? I expected the Packers to be in it.
  13. Will loves to party and he comes by it naturally.
  14. Anyone's nightmare who has ever put someone they love on a plane.....

    Chapter 2

Just what will this day bring him? A cliffie!

    Chapter 1

What a good hook. You set it just right. Now on to ch. 2....

    Grab Bag!

Thanks for the interview and the background. Dealing with a sixteen year old son is a challenge, while working full-time, maintaining a household and having the time consuming hobby of writing. Kudos to your time-management!
  18. I like how Mark tied up some loose ends. The battle descriptions were clear and concise. Two messengers and the one to be let out at Plymouth is a bit full of himself. That Jervis asked George to delete his part in splitting the fleet more clearly squares with the historical account and of course Jervis would make sure the admiralty knew of his little contribution. They all come out winners and George gets to go home and find out the latest on his home front. Great job Mark! Perhaps this part of the Granger series is coming to a close soon.

    Chapter 30

Calder seems a bit 'prickly'..... Nice job tying up the loose ends and bringing the account of the battle to more closely square with history!

    Chapter 1

    Keep it coming!
  21. Ya done good!
  22. Some interesting reads of which I've finished 11, some read a couple of times. I've started another 7 and put them down without finishing. While it is an interesting list, it is hardly comprehensive and there ares some very cool books missing. For instance, Catcher in the Rye, The Old Man and the Sea, The Heart of Darkness....I could go on ad nauseum.
  23. Chapter 14 is up and is all about Wade and Matt following the revelations in the mensroom. It is a nice piece of writing that goes into some detail about their relationship with a positive resolution of some of their problems. Well done and interesting in an intimate way. Good job. I like the way that Matt explains his feelings about Riley. I wouldn't have thought of that, but now I can picture it.

    Chapter 14

These guys have reaffirmed their commitment to each other, not just in words, but in understanding. Kudos Mark, nice job of writing.
  25. What an unmitigated load of cow flops.
