I also finished reading chapter 3 of Paternity and agree with Centexhs that I didn't know what to say. After some reflection: I'd hate to see Wade and Matt break up. And I was somewhat surprised that Wade took some comfort with Gathan. The chapter is a quick read and the writing is of course excellent. However, the storyline could go in so many directions that it's impossible to guess what will be coming next.

Gay Men: Are you hetero virgins?
Daddydavek replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
I did not vote. However, in my generation, almost everyone I know who enjoys man to man sex has also tried sex with a woman, at least once and for some many more than that. Like all rites of passage, most everyone tried dipping their tallywhackers that way. -
I know I am really old, but I'm still surprised no one included any christmas songs by Johnny Mathis: This one is from the Tonight Show with Carson and I remember seeing it live, I was in my late twenties....

Before you talk to your husband I think you should ask yourself some questions and think about it. 1. How will you feel if you find out he is gay and sexually active that way? 2. How will you feel if he blows it off as a weird dream and you somehow don't quite believe him? 3. How will you feel if he confesses to having gay thoughts, dreams and yearnings and doesn't think he cannot NOT act on them eventually? 4. How will you feel if you wait a bit and see if there are any other signs that cause you to worry more? 5. How will you feel if you wait to see if anything else comes to light and nothing ever does? 6. How is he as a lover, father, provider and helpmate? 7. Do you really talk to each other already or are you still learning how? If you can get a handle on what your own thoughts and feelings will be in the various scenarios, then it is time to ask. But you need to be prepared to be surprised. It could be nothing, nothing serious, or serious....

It's always kind of nice to come across something that really reminds you of a loved one that has passed. In this case it was special that you shared it and that it truly did capture her spunk and spirit of adventure.

Nice twist to the fable. But really, Petunia?

Circumnavigation (99 +4) Breakfast on the Farm
Daddydavek replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
The point about Bridget's deceased friend stirring up some police interest is noted, however, I don't suspect that will be her undoing. I think CJ has something far more sinister in mind for her. (Just guessing, especially after the way he disposed of George!) Henry is perhaps also in more danger than he realizes. (Again just speculating!) Still don't see how the story will end in just a few more chapters...maybe just hoping? -
The dirty cop got done dirty with massive pain and agony to boot. Bridget may be in more trouble than she realizes with the cartel as somehow I don't buy Sanchez being all warm and fuzzy. Trevor and his friends may be in even more trouble than I thought as B'stoke's plan is so favorably reviewed by Sanchez and the witch. Hopefully, Trev, Shane, Joel and Lisa make good friends on the base. It would be nice if base security could do a sweep of the K and find the plant that B'stoke placed there.

…Some Things Are Out Of Your Control
Daddydavek commented on Jwolf's story chapter in …Some Things Are Out Of Your Control
Great chapter. Spence is a friend who cares too much and I can surely identify with him and his angst. CJ is a young teen and Liz just about broke her dad's heart. What a roller coaster with Morgan's ugly insinuations echoing in the background. -
After all the times Will has failed to use protection and worried himself to death, I certainly hope he uses protection, and lots of care not to get anyone pregnant....at least for another 10-15 years!

Chapter 30 - Christmas Day
Daddydavek commented on comicfan's story chapter in Chapter 30 - Christmas Day
The weather outside was frightful and did they make it into the parking garage? Now we got to wait. -
I agree, if only to really sort himself out and see where his basic attractions lay. Who knows he may find himself to be more in the middle of the spectrum than he thinks....

Sadly this was the attorney who helped us get Baby Q
Daddydavek replied to Andrew Q Gordon's topic in The Lounge
It's unsettling to find out that an attorney you trusted and who helped you, is found to have broken the law and got caught and pleaded guilty. You seem to have put it into the right perspective, she did right by you and she did help families who were desparate for children. Now she will serve her time and probation. Justice is never perfect. -
“Some things are more important than winning, period.” They both looked at me like I was a heretic, and then they were gone. Good job and the closing line was sensational! Now you have us wondering just what is in that report on Tina...

Circumnavigation (99 +3) Welcome to Australia
Daddydavek replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
The story still has me wondering. B'stoke is in the area and knows where the K is. L & J skip thru Aussie customs despite the tip. Perth is tempting for Trev and Shane. Rachel gave Gonzales plenty to think about and he is calling a forensic accountant? Dirk & Jim are still clueless about Trevor, as he is about them. So many loose ends... Now to wait another week. -
Somehow I don't think Tiffany and Wade have heard the last from Jeanine. Interesting start to a new book in the CAP series. But honestly, paternity is revealed in the first chapter, so that makes me believe there are additional issues regarding paternity as yet unrevealed....

As someone who camped and canoed a lot as a teenager and much younger man, I can only say, you forgot to mention the insects, which are especially noisome at night. The part about them spending the night in an 'gator wallow was pretty scary though!

Gathan catching Kristin in flagrante delicto thus ending their relationship was a slight surprise. I really expected her to catch Gathan again, but instead of with Will, with Zach and with the encounter having been set-up by Zach. Now I'm curious to see how the clan and crew respond to 9/11 and just who is directly effected...
-
Well I guess there is at least one very happy guy----Kristin's dad. Zach did some serious damage to his bad boy image. Gathan had a good-bye tryst with Kristin, but the story made no mention that he remembered to use protection.....

Anne McCaffrey's stories about the dragonriders of Pern clearly described the sexual exploits of the riders, especially when their dragons were in heat. Her stories indicated that sometimes the sexcapades were with members of the same sex. She was an accomplished writer who mixed fantasy with science fiction. In the late 1960s she became the first woman to win a Hugo Award for a work of fiction and the first woman to win a Nebula Award. She was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2006 joining the likes of Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke etc. Anyone who enjoys some well written fantasy, would enjoy her work. RIP Anne!

Read through this story over the past couple of days and thoroughly enjoyed it. I usually shy away from fan fiction as I've found it to be usually not up to par. This was an exception as it was true to the Pern universe in both obvious and subtle ways. Good job.

"2. In a perfect world, I'd have separate alphabetical listings for Hosted Authors, Promising Authors, Authors, Poets, Validateds, and Newbies." Sounds like a plan to me, maybe Myr and the other powers that be will notice and consider....and not reject out of hand.

Justice was served! Both in the story and as a story! Great job! I'm glad our victims took no real joy in seeing the defendant sentenced to 65 years. It was just, but is still heartbreaking. Some young people throw their lives away in a variety of ways, but this is one of the worst. Whether its a hate crime, drugs, or just sheer stupidity, too many of our youth fail to understand that life is a gift that they should try to do something with that has a lasting positive value.

...I Never Imagined I Would End Up Alone
Daddydavek commented on Jwolf's story chapter in ...I Never Imagined I Would End Up Alone
Welcome back! I liked the scene with Coop's son. I think Coop handled that particularly well. Kids often think their parents don't really want them when going through a divorce and sometimes they are right. Coop can't catch a break with Chase. Finding Morgan and then Chase having to go at the end of the chapter has surely left Coop feeling particularly vulnerable. Good job.
