  1. Wow. The last week has been a blur. Last Saturday night I got a call from my Aunt. My uncle died. The funeral was Tuesday. So soon after my Dad's death, it brought it all back. Another military funeral. Another flag draped coffin. Another soldier from a forgotten, unpopular war. It pissed me off. So I wrote Valhalla. I'll be posting it soon. Wednesday morning I drove my Mom to Dallas to have Thanksgiving at my brothers house. Traffic sucked. It took 3 hours to get from Canton, Texas to Flower Mound. I thought I would go postal. After we got there all was well. My sister-in-law outdid herself in the kitchen. Thanksgiving was great and my brother and I watched the Texas-Texas A&M game. Black Friday I went to my favorite book store on the planet: Recycled Books in the Opera House at Denton, TX. We ate at a nice Italian restaurant. I had mussels & shrimp on pasta. This morning we walked the Grapevine Mills Mall, had lunch at Animia's and drove back. Easier said than done. It's four hundred something miles from Dallas to Jackson. It took eith hours. I got Mom home at 9 and I straggled in at 10. Tomorrow... I plan on doing- not much.
  2. I went to The Opera House in Denton, TX. I go whenever I'm in the Dallas area. I'm glad that I took the truck!
  3. It sounds like he thinks that you are going to kick his ass. :chris: Now that would be something academia would talk about for decades. academic #1: Remember when Mark kicked Duberson's ass? academic #2: Now that was cool. It's the last real thing that happened here... ever.
  4. The road to Valhalla goes through hell.

    Broken

Broken by Lifehouse off of Who We Are Watch Video The Broken clock is a comfort It helps me sleep tonight Maybe it can stop tomorrow From stealing all my time And I am here still waiting Though I still have my doubts I am damaged at best Like you've already figured out I'm falling apart I'm barely breathing With a broken heart That's still beating In the pain There is healing In your name I find meaning So I'm holding on (I'm holdin on)(I'm holdin on) I'm barely holding on to you The broken locks were a warning You got inside my head I tried my best to be guarded I'm an open book instead And I still see your reflection Inside of my eyes That are looking for purpose They're still looking for life I'm falling apart I'm barely breathing With a broken heart That's still beating In the pain (In the pain) Is there healing In your name I find meaning So I'm holding on (I'm still holdin on)(I'm holdin on) (I'm still holdin on) (I'm holdin on) I'm barely holding on to you I'm hanging on another day Just to see what, you will throw my way And I'm hanging on, to the words you say You said that I will, will be okay The broken light on the freeway Left me here alone I may have lost my way now But I haven't forgotten my way home I'm falling apart I'm barely breathing With a broken heart That's still beating In the pain (In the pain) There is healing In your name (In your name) I find meaning So I'm holding on (I'm still holdin')(I'm holdin' on)(I'm still holdin') (I'm holdin' on) (I'm still holdin') Barely holding on to you (I'm still holdin on) Barely holdin on to you

  7. If you are courageous and your cause is just, Thor will appear and fight by your side. All Oak are the kin of Yggdrasil and the acorn is the promise of new life. As Christianity spread across Europe, in order to replace and supplant native religions, it took on some of their trappings. Many of the things considered "Christian" are more accurately Pagan beliefs that pre-date Christianity. For instance the concept of the Trinity in Christianity was borrowed from Nordic cultures three faces of God Odin, Thor and Freya. The idea of silence and fasting may have had its origins in Celtic culture. The Christmas tree and the Easter egg came from Germanic fertility rites. Rather than a monolithic religion, Christianity appears to be an amalgam of numerous cultural myths and beliefs.
  8. I was afraid of this story. The title is about something that I have issues with. I'm no fan of Porn. I've seen enough of it to know that I've seen too much. Billy pulled out the whole Jung's Encyclopedia of Man's Symbols and beat me over the head with it. A murder of crows makes raucous sounds in the gray distance. All I can say is that... yes. It does.
  9. Rambo was part of a litter that a stray had on my Mom's garage. The rest went to a shelter but she wouldn't part with this kitten. He was 8 weeks old and not separated too early.
  10. You too Nick- good luck with the baby on the road. I've often thought that for taking a little kids on a road trip, there should be Valium enriched Flintstones vitamins. It would make the trip more tolerable for the kid and save parents sanity. A win-win for everyone involved. ____________________________ Disclaimer- don't try this at home.
  11. Sadly- with this cat it's cat psychosis. Last night while I was working on chapter 23 of Twilight, he climbed my back (Ouch- now I'm see stars), took a bite of my ear, drank out of my glass and vanished. Somebody taught the little b&^%&*(> guerrilla tactics. Now I'm trying to figure out how to negotiate a truce.

    Weezer

Weezer? Sounds a lot like my sinuses.
  13. Politics within a bureaucracy are always complex and cut throat. You never know what relationships lie under the surface, who are allies and who are allies of convenience and only the most naive of players puts his cards on the table. The Byzantine web of relationships make allies of enemies and enemies of friends. "The best way to deal with bureaucrats is with stealth and sudden violence." Butros Butros-Ghali
  14. If I said that I had a boyfriend, they would come to take me away. You are young enough that it fits.
  15. The Worst Day Since Yesterday by Flogging Molly's album Swagger Listen Well I know, I miss more than hit With a face that was launched to sink An' I seldom feel, the bright relief It's been the Worst Day Since Yesterday If there's one thing I have said Is that the dreams I once had, now lay in bed As the four winds blow, my wits through the door It's been the Worst Day Since Yesterday Fallin' down to you sweet ground Where the flowers they bloom It's there I'll be found Hurry back to me, my wild Colleen It's been the Worst Day Since Yesterday Though these wounds have seen no wars Except for the scars I have ignored And this endless crutch, well it's never enough It's been the Worst Day Since Yesterday Hell says hello, well it's time to I should go To pastures green, that I've yet to see Hurry back to me, my wild Colleen It's been the Worst Day Since Yesterday __________________________________________________ Somehow this song really spoke to me.

    hurt...

I have no idea what going on. Let's see if I follow: Somehow you screwed the pooch (made a mistake). You are a kid and I guarantee that it will happen again- probably not with the same pooch. We all screw that pooch sooner or later. Your Dad is angry about the pooch getting screwed. He should get over it. That pooch is a real slut. The rest of your family knows that you screwed the pooch and supports you. Apparently they know about the slutty pooch. Life is stressful and difficult because you screwed the slutty pooch that everyone else has screwed. My conclusions: Screwing the pooch happens to the best of us. I've even bought that bitch a ring. Your Dad has certainly screwed a few pooches in his time. Everybody has. Maybe he's suffering from selective amnesia. Nobody likes to remember screwing the pooch. Chances are that he'll remember his own pooch screwings and come around Remember well your family's support during your pooch screwing low and be there when one of them eventually screws the pooch. Life is always stressful and difficult so don't make it harder on yourself by hanging out with slutty pooches. Just know that there's all kind of pooch sluts out there just waiting. You'll want to think twice before you do something that's going to give you fleas next time. < Pooch Slut Does that help???
  18. What do you think of Flash Forward Thursday nights on ABC? Based on a novel by Canadian Sci-Fi author Sawyer, it looks pretty good. So far the writing has avoided having cute kids, smart dogs and dumb robots so it appears to be better than average. You can watch it on ABC site or on Hulu
  19. Wow- that is really gay You feeling all right?
  20. Been there, done that, burned the t-shirt. Not to do what I've done which involved a lot of drinking, fighting, bad hook-up sex and writing bad poetry. It's different for guys and girls. She's probably not going to want to go out, get drunk, fight and f*ck.
  21. I prefer my organ-spasms the old fashioned way without electrical appliances.
  22. I could never do drag. My body would never ever be mistaken for female. The drag queens that most people object too are the guys that aren't shaped right to do it and just look scary. For guys that are shaped right and are cute enough to pull it off, I say go 4 it. Good luck with your family- just keep in mind that they don't need to know everything.
  23. I don't know. I'm too old to have a "boyfriend", lover sounds entirely too gay and... the others sound so artificial.
  24. never cared for them. food that is hunter's orange is... disquieting.
