On the Global Explorer, science, espionage, and environmental activism meet Sea Cadets enrolled in a United Nations science program. The goal of the Explorer’s crew? To save the world from global warming, widespread hunger, pollution, post-Soviet Russian thuggery, and a myriad things adults created but that their children must solve.

The kids of the Global Explorer and schools throughout the world show that they can make a difference. Armed with science leavened with a touch of magic*, they help bring the Enlightenment to the most closed societies of Earth.

Two teens—one an Elven mage, the other the Human son of a huntsman—meet as healer and patient, but develop much closer ties. They set out to see World, and find it to be a very different place from the sheltered existence they had led. Their lives are not made easier by the Darkness that seeks to eclipse the Light that has ruled Elvenhold and Arcadia for 5,000 years.

A teen with an earnest desire to become a Warrior-Cleric travels from a small town to the capital city and enrolls in the central temple of Arcadia. It is not long, however, before his skills and training lead him into danger. Along the way, he meets a half-Elven boy who becomes his acolyte and companion.

Two boys with nothing in common join forces to search for a missing classmate. They discover a world governed by both magic and logic. There, they find the one thing they do have in common is the only thing that is important.
This story begins on Earth (or an Earth analogue), a few months after “The Book of Heroes: George of Sedona,” . It is not essential, but perhaps useful, to have read at least the first chapter of that story before reading this one.

If you’ve read “Protector of Children” you may remember Lucas. That particular Lucas lives (or lived or will live) in Earth Analogue IV, one not unlike the one in which you are reading this except that its inhabitants include the Greek gods and at least one titan. The narrative which follows occurs (or occurred or will occur) in Earth Analogues V and VII.
