Tristan Rader and Gavin Munson met as four-year-olds and almost immediately became best friends. However, their time together ended the summer before fifth grade when Gavin’s father got a new job and his family moved away. As the pair grew older, their paths would cross and bring them together in unexpected ways, only to have fate intercede and cause them to lose contact yet again. This is my entry for the Fall/Winter 2021 anthology, ‘A Winding Path’

Growing up to be a ruthless assassin, Damian Wayne was the perfect child to succeed Ra’s al Ghul. But his desire for Batman’s approval as his father reeled him into a different fate. Years under his tutelage, he had died, went to Apokolips and back. Just when everything was back to normal, he meets Superboy aka Jonathan Samuel Kent.

New bartender, Lane Hardy, has come to work at The Rainbow Beret, a gay bar outside of Denver. Regular customer Brendan McCoy is immediately attracted to his odd nature and appearance. But the more he gets to know Lane the more he senses the young man is on the run - from what he doesn't know, and what he doesn't know could kill him.

Felix and Finn are twin brothers separated at the age of two years, following the separation of their parents.

One twin remained with his mother in the UK, while the other travelled to New Zealand, his fathers home country.

I hope you like my telling of a particularly difficult case we handled.

"We look at each other for the longest two seconds, a knowing look, communicating something beyond the restraints of speech but to which we are both finely attuned; a common language...which, in its evolution, had turned our signals into pictures so vivid we were terrified of giving anything deeper than superficial away, and so we turn our heads, almost simultaneously, focusing our attention elsewhere."

When Stan's friend offers to be his personal trainer, the offer is too good to refuse. But the experience threatens to transform the pair in ways neither could have predicted.

This story was written as an addition to the Sanitaria Springs series of stories. Those are stories written by Dabeagle and other authors who he invited to contribute. They are about events in the lives of several teen boys who live in the fictional town of Sanitaria Springs in New York State. The stories are interwoven and this particular story picks up on a character first met in a story titled 'Without A Trace.'

I do not think it is essential to read that story before reading this tale as I believe there is sufficient 'back story' here to enable this one to stand alone, but feel free to do so.
