At an all boys' boarding school, closeted Elijah finds on his bed a strange love note. A small poem. It's not a very good poem, but apparently another boarder at the school is in love with him! On the other side of the paper is an amazingly detailed sketch of the four of them - Elijah and his friends Reggie, Tiger and Owen. When a second poem and sketch sets a recurring precedent, Elijah enlists the help of his friends as he becomes increasingly obsessed with finding whoever is leaving him these cryptic, artistic symbols of love.

3 months later sees young Arnold in a better place than in ever before. He has friends, his family is beginning to care about him once more and he's starting to tackle his demons. Things are going great until the arrival of a new kid flips his entire world upside down.

Stefano is a young gypsy dealing with grief and loss when he meets the dark traveler, Vargon. Innocent and trusting, he confides his sorrow to the tall stranger who promises him relief and a future. He becomes one with the night, vampire - or kindred in the language of the undead, but finds that love is still attainable, still distracting, and still able to entice and enthrall his spirit. However, the strings of being human are not lost when one is turned, instead they often intensify, leaving our young friend lost within the dreams and wishes of the young.
