For the vast majority of my life I’ve lived in London, England, and worked in healthcare. Both have given me the chance to meet many different people in many different situations, which have all coloured my writing.

I am fascinated by how we live our lives, and as gay men how we find places for ourselves in today’s world, and how we lived in the past. So much of my writing tries to explore this, but it also explores issues and subjects that interest me or make me angry. Behind every headline is a story too.

I want to find the people in the situations and stories I write about.

J.Ross writes stories that strive to capture the raw, honest emotions that come along with being a teenager today. My work is driven by my characters gleefully taking on lives of their own and dragging me along with my notepad and pen at the ready. Even if, to paraphrase Stephen King, you take ordinary people and throw them into extraordinary circumstances to see how they respond, I prefer realism, stories that could be happening right now with your neighbors, your friends, your family, or even you. And since my characters don't always give me a happy ending, I can't always give you one. Which is about as real as it gets.

Jeff Burton is a storyteller who loves exploring the messy, thrilling, and sometimes hilarious corners of life. Originally from the land of Shakespeare, I've been slogging away at writing for many years (on and off). It's been fun, hard work, but rewarding and has been a great discipline for someone who treats writing as a past-time rather than as a way to put food on the table. I've had a couple of successes, lots of failures and have finally learnt how to take feedback, whether positive or constructive, gracefully, and in the way it's given.
