Both stories are a coming of age story centered around Andy Collins, Joey Adams, Sammy Day and friends. As the boys deals with their sexual orientation, they must also confront abuse and murder in the small mining town of Pine Hills, nestled away in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky.
