Moggy's Mutterings - 13. Waldo Canyon Fire
written on the 5 year anniversary
Bathing the sky in blackness.
the mountain peaks in stark relief
while orange and red painted the sky
32,000 hurrying to get out of the way,
releasing the livestock, hoping for the best.
Almost 29 square miles gone in the onslaught of days.
346 homes gone, land mark burned to the ground.
2 people dead.
Outlaying places opening homes and business for the displaced.
So many running for safety, while a courageous few ran toward the heat.
Battling day and night.
Fighting fatigue with a lullaby of the crackle and roar of the fire.
Some superheroes wear fireman helmets.
