Moggy's Mutterings - 30. Remember Me

I have a memory of me.
The me I used to want to be.
The carefree, dancing spirit.
Before life made me, the child, responsible.
Responsible for the care of adults.
Adult worries and issues heaped high.
All done with smiles, in hopes of love, acceptance.
Never given, just labeled a daydreamer.
But, deep in the night, all others asleep,
slipping out the window, to dance in the meadows.
Frolic in the groves, splash in the creek.
Stars and auroras lighting the way.
All grown, waiting for death,
I carry a nugget of a memory.
A memory of the me I used to want to be.

I really related to this, moggy. I was always, always, always the adult. It's a heavy weight, and you express this beautifully... the facade worn, and the imagination needed to get the child through... it wasn't fair, but life often isn't... cheers... Gary xo

It makes me think about my daughter, and how society is trying to get kids to grow up so fast nowadays.

Very well written moggy

Yes, it's unfair when children are called upon to be the adults in the room. Hugs

very unfair to be sure, but for me, it was a means to survive. although i could have done without the adventure as a 1st grader helping to feed the schizophrenics their dinners place at the where my mother worked. :P thanks for the hugs

thanks gary. so many bear this burden. i take comfort in the inherent unfairness in the world. otherwise the things that have been done to me, would mean i deserve them :hug:and the person who told you life was fair? he lied :)

thanks caz. it was one of the factors in deciding to homeschool. that i was in control of how fast he grew up. i didn't want for him to fend for himself at a young age. he had fun and by the time he was a teenager he was well rounded and adjusted. i hate the over sexualazition of children. what 5 year old needs a push-up bra?

It sucks when kids have to grow up and stop being kids, before they actually stop being kids.  Beautifully done!
