Clarion - 7. Chapter 7

Jeff left to go home while Cody and I decided to walk the ground around the house. I noticed that there were quite a few black walnut trees as well as butternut trees. Cody saw some blackberry bushes, which we had for an early dessert. "We should come back tomorrow and pick some for pies. They’d be great on ice cream as well." With our tongues covered in black berry juice, I decided to give Cody a kiss. Needless to say that the black berry juice really sweetened the kiss. Laughing, we went back to the house and made a list of additional furniture we would need.

While Cody made the list, I phoned Noah telling him I’ve moved into the house and that I was very pleased with his work. He thanked me and told me he had the dining room furniture finished and would it be ok to deliver it tomorrow. I agreed and we set the time at 9 AM. I told Cody about the furniture coming, "I hope we’re awake by then" smiling like the Cheshire cat.

I looked over Cody's list. He had the patio furniture, a grilling setup that included a built in refrigerator. Chaise lounges for the balcony and four beach chairs. "What are the beach chairs for?” One word answer, ‘fishing’.

Sometimes we ask silly questions, "Cody, what did you plan on doing tonight?" His wicked smile answered that question. "I mean until then," I liked the way he was thinking. "How about we go into town and look around. We might see something on your list and just do a generally check out. What do you think? Or we could go and check out Cook Forest, your choice."

"Let's do the town since it’s a little late to go to Cook Forest. Maybe we can do that this week-end."

"Sounds like a plan to me. I think I’ll take a shower and change my clothes in case we decided to eat in town." What I thought would be a quick 15 minute shower turned into a 40 minute shower when Cody joined me, I didn't mind. Dressed we headed to Clarion. We checked out the college, the shops, which took a lot of time. I noticed a head shop in the basement of a travel agency. The door to the shop was outside at the back of the agency. I asked Cody if he wanted to check it out. He just laughed and said he really didn't have any interest in a head shop.

Whispering, "There’s only one head I’m interested in." I looked at him a little shocked, only a little, he was grinning and winking.

"You’re a naughty boy but I like the way you think."

There was a Montgomery Ward order store. I haven't seen a Montgomery Ward store for ages. I remember they were mostly an order store but I thought they had gone out of business. We went in and asked them for a catalog. "I'm getting hungry. Let's go and get something to eat." The girl suggested a restaurant on the right side of the road leaving Clarion. Taking her advice, we left for the restaurant.

On the way into the restaurant they had a leaflet rack that contained brochures about activities in Clarion and Clarion County. I picked up a few and I noticed Cody did as well. There were a few that we had duplicated, I put mine back.

Dinner was great, I’m not sure if it was the food or the company, but it was good. I paid our check, left a tip, picked up our brochures and left. Before leaving, I asked the waitress if there was a wine store in Clarion. She said no, you probably could find one in Butler. I looked at Cody, he obvious didn't know where that was. He shook his head as to say forget it.

When we driving back home, "Alan, give me a list of the wine you want. When I’m in Chicago or home I’ll load up and then drop it off here for you."

"That brings up an important issue. How serious are you about keeping your job?"

"Well, it’s a job and I do like driving. Chicago is a nice city. Why do you ask?"

"I’d like for you to move in with me and that would be difficult if you lived in Philly. I know we’d have time to get together when you stop here, but I guess I have waited a long time for a potential partner and I’d like you to be that partner."

"If I decide to move in with you, what would I do to earn my keep? I’d need a job."

"You could go to college and learn a new career, and no, you are not too old to go to college. You could be an accountant, I didn't see any in Clarion. You could build cabins for clients, who want either a vacation home or a hunting cabin. We could build or buy a resort close to Cook Forest. There are a lot of things you could do and, of course, you could share my home with me."

"Wow, it looks like you have given this some thought. Moving in here is a real enticement. Let me think about it and I’ll talk to you about it before I leave."

I agreed. Cody really had a point about finding a job. I had enough money that he didn't need to work. I understood why, in his mind he thought he needed to work. That just confirmed that Cody was the right partner for me.

That night, we completed our relationship. I never felt so close to anyone as I did when Cody entered me. It had been a very long time, he was slow and the love in his eyes was all I needed. Once fully seated he waited before slowly pulling out and in again. As I began to moan at the feelings, he sped up. I was getting close; Cody sensed this and started to really pound me hard. "Aah, harder I’m almost there." with that said I blew all over my chest. Not since I was a teenager did I blow that much. Cody started to go faster and harder and he yelled, oh yea, as he unloaded into me.

Coming down he slowly pulled out and fell on his back next to me. The thought that we didn't use a condom went fleeting through my mind. "I'm sorry. I was so excited I forgot to use a condom. I got my HIV test back before I left and it was negative. I know we agreed to get one every three months before we didn't use a condom. I normally get a complete physical and blood test as a requirement for being employed by the trucking company. I have been negative for every test taken. "

I just looked at him and smiled."Beat you to the shower,"

The fishing trip is still on. Day 1 has been hectic. Tomorrow dining room furniture arrives. I wonder what other surprises ill Alan and Cody face.

So refreshing - one can just feel the cool breeze of the Clarion River. Alan's definitely found a keeper and Cody is already showing his inward drive. Just wondering what the future path will be in way of enterprise - so many options in this town. Totally loved this place until I heard there was no wine store ... WTH! 😳😂😂😂

No, there aren't any wine shops. There are bars where you could get a glass of wine but beer and whiskey were the main drinks in this area. Remember it was fishing and hunting. Butler is about an hour drive away and Erie is also about an hour. So there are places. Pennsylvania has strict alcohol tax laws and you can't import wines without paying a tax.

Did you find a Montgomery Wards store? They were competitors with Sears but they were mostly mail order. I can just imagine what you thought a Head Shop was. 🙂

I am sure you can tell from my comments that I am a paragon of innocence and virtue. That I thought a Head Shop was a barber/hairstylist or facial skin care specialist.

Okay, so the first line may be a smallish slight stretch with a drop of wishful thinking (or delusion), but I actually did think that that was what it was you know.

Okay, so for a nano-second I initially thought of the obvious. But as quickly as that thought came, it was dismissed with a, "Nah. They wouldn't/couldn't have an actual shop for that?!?!"

This is a college town, so the possibility of having a Head Shop, would be normal. At least there was one in Clarion. I went in and looked around. A lot of paraphernalia, but it didn't appeal to me. Maybe a hooker, but I don't smoke.

I am sure it was a simple mistake and that you meant hookah.

If not, remember. We have already agreed that a Head Shop is not that. I've never heard it called smoking before, but I suppose the mechanics are similar :)

You are absolutely right. I did mean hookah. It's early here, not quite awake yet. 4:45 Am I like your sense of humor.

Well @Buz, sometimes too much hookah could possibly lead to a hooker. Just sayin'.
