This sci-fi/fantasy is a must read in my opinion. The main characters, Gabe and Ryle, are compelling characters. Gabe is the Captain's son, who does not believe in slavery. Ryle is a bird man who is purchased to be his companion. How they both came to be on this space ship and how their relationship grows is the heart of this story. There is a lot of action and drama. The supporting characters are interesting in their own right and not just cardboard cutouts. I highly recommend this well written story.

The story followes Gabriel and Ryle, a starship captain's son and his slave. Readers get to know then intimately and I for one almost fell in love with both of them. Their emotions were very well portrayed as was the story well paced and well written. The boys go through some less than stellar ordeals but power through together. I think I can honestly say that I went through the whole spectrum of emotions while reading Starcutter.  Everything from rage to grief to bliss, and everything inbetween.

I haven't checked but I seriously hope this has a sequel or two, as it was an amazing read. Definitively recommend it!

i don't care for the Sci-fi genre in general so i usually  pass on them. however, i enjoyed this author' other stories so i took a chance. boy i'm glad i did! it has great pacing and the main characters aren't two dimensional. very much a good read. i think i went through every emotion that a human has, with this one.
