Puppilull's poetry prompts - 3. Poetry prompt 1 - Tanka

Poetry prompt #1 – Tanka

A weary season

Heavy feels the weight of green

So dark are the leaves

Broken by fields of yellow

Whispers of red in the air

I'm doing a few more. A little late to the party...

Better late than never. I could see/feel fall coming closer. Not my favorite season by the way. Now on to #2. :pp

That was the feeling I was going for. I've actually started thinking/sketching on he next as well. Will need a bit more work.

I agree with Adi about the 'never too late!'

With this poem, I have to say, I could not tell the season. At first I thought it's about the height of summer (heavy green), and the fields are yellow because they are parched. Then I thought, it's autumn, but then the idea that the heaviness in the green is because it's young, and the yellow in the fields is spring color.

Anyway - this is praise. I think that not knowing is brilliant, so please do not be tempted to 'clarify.' In my view that might weaken the effect of the Tanka.

Thanks for taking another of the poetry prompt challenges!!! Love it

That uncertainty actually captures my idea perfectly! It really is addictive, this poetry writing.

That was evocative... i really got the heavy green of summer, but as a never ending cycle, the 'whispers of red' will continue until they shout and overtake the green... just beautiful... sorry I missed seeing this one earlier. You also made me understand tanka a little better... this brought me some clarity... well done, poet...cheers... Gary

You're too kind! I don't know if I truly got it, but if you liked it I'm glad!
