2014 Prompt Responses - 25. Prompt 332
“Try it again, and I will kill you!”
“Try it again, and I will kill you!” The big bear of a man growled.
I hastily retreated. I would kill for working gaydar. Apparently big, burly straight guys don’t like their asses grabbed by scrawny gay guys. Go figure. I chugged the last of my beer and then headed out the door. I’d had enough rejection for one night.
I stopped and lit a cigarette and felt a strong hand cover my mouth as I was dragged into a dark alley. I tried to fight, but the guy was just too big. He pushed me up against the wall with my arm twisted behind my back.
“If I let go of your mouth, are you going to scream?”
I nodded.
He increased the pressure on my arm until I squirmed from the pain. “Let’s try this again. If I let go, are you going to scream?”
I shook my head.
“Good.” He let me go and I wheeled around. It was the guy from the bar. I groaned. This was not going to end well.
“Look man, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean – “
“Why?”
“Huh?”
“Why me?”
I raised my eyebrows. He was every cub’s wet dream. “Well, I totally misread you. Plus, you’re hot.” My eyes widened. Ugh. He was going to pummel me now for sure.
Instead, the man laughed. “Hot? You’re kidding me, right? I’ve been called a lot of things and ‘hot’ ain’t one of them!”
I smiled shakily. “Well, you are. A lot of guys go for the bear look. Trust me, you’re hot.”
“What do you mean, you misread me?”
I shifted my feet and looked away. I really didn’t want to answer.
“What did you mean?” He took a menacing step forward.
“I noticed you checking me out. I was kinda hoping we would hook up tonight.”
He crossed his arms and scowled. “I wasn’t checking you out.”
I smirked. “Yeah, you totally were.”
He glowered at me and I shrank back. “Ok! Ok! You weren’t checking me out!”
“What did you mean by ‘bare look’? Ain’t nothin’ bare here.” He gestured to his worn jeans and long-sleeved flannel shirt.
I tried desperately not to laugh.
“Not b-a-r-e. B-e-a-r. Like the animal.”
“So now I’m an animal?” He growled.
“A bear is a big, hairy man. Like I said, lots of guys go for that look … including me.”
“You really think I’m hot?”
This guy was starting to sound like a broken record. I rolled my eyes. “Yes, I do. Now are you going to beat the crap out of me or not? I would like to get home at some point tonight.”
The bear lumbered up to me until his impassive face was right in front of mine. His breath smelled like mint.
“Or not,” he said. Then he kissed me.
His eyes widened and he pulled back when I didn’t respond.
“Shit! I can’t believe I just – “ he turned and started to walk away. I grabbed his arm.
“Wait!” I couldn’t believe I was doing this. “You just caught me by surprise.” I reached up and took his face in my hands and kissed him. He hesitantly responded and then crushed me to his broad, beefy chest. I gasped and grimaced.
He dropped me and took a step back. “Did I hurt you?”
“No,” I wheezed. “You just need to be a bit more gentle with scrawny guys like me.”
“Sorry. I guess I should probably go, anyway.”
“Your place or mine?”
He looked at me quizzically, and then grinned and grabbed my hand.
“Yours.”
