J.A.M. - 18. Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Entry 55

Operation Benji was a success!!!!!!! The BBQ was a success also. We had plenty of things to do for the adults and the kids. We had a block wide scavenger hunt. We paired off with each other which was the perfect way to get Rob and Benji alone together. All the items on the lists were limited to stuff we could find around the yards of each other. Mine and Phillip’s list included a football, garden gnome, chew toy, and a croquet ball. It didn’t take long for us tom find the items either. The gnome was in auntie Joh’s yard, the football was in Seamus’ yard. Phillip had a croquet set in his back yard and the chew toy was easy to find I my own back yard. The last team to come back was Benji and Rob. Their faces were a little red and I swear they we trying to hard to cover up their necks. Dr. Hawk was amused by this as was auntie Joh. When we asked what took them so long they just said they were getting to know each other. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about the food. It was awesome. The dads started off by grilling some bratwurst and hot dogs. While those kept everyone at bay they put some ribs and chicken on the grill slathered with barbecue sauce. Auntie Joh had brought some baked beans, while Doc brought some awesome coleslaw. I don’t know how any of us kids aren’t fat from all the great food that our parents make, its totally amazing. After everybody had gotten their fill of the food the dads sprung a surprise on us and brought out a projector and screen and we all sat down and started watching a movie. The only sad spot to the day was that Wesley couldn’t come.

Entry 56

OK so something weird happened today. Melvin Chambers called to talk to me. He wanted to apologize for being such an ass to me and everyone else in our group. He said he had a long talk with Wesley and it made him realize just what a dick he was. He said he had some issues at home and he was taking it out on anybody else. I told him that he was welcome to talk to me anytime he felt like it. It was kind of nice being able to talk to him without him being a total dick. I think maybe we should invite Melvin to the GSA meetings that way he could get to know us even better. It couldn’t hurt, at least I don’t think it would. I talked to Phillip about it and he thought it might be a good idea, so I’ll invite him tomorrow. With it being Sunday, we had a lazy day without doing anything. We spent an hour walking Leah around the town and to the park where we tried to teach her to fetch. She doesn’t have the concept down completely, meaning she will go after it but she won’t bring it back, or give it up for that matter. We are planning on taking her to the groomer this week. Just a little trim and maybe paint her toenails. I just want to glam her up a bit. Phillip thinks I’m going overboard, but she’s my baby I can’t help it. She’s just so damn cute. Well, tomorrow is a big day, it’s Wesley’s mom’s funeral, and he asked if I could be there. I’m glad that he considers me a good enough friend to be there. I think it’s because I know what it’s like to lose a parent, so I could help him through it. I really hope I can.

short one today folks i'm taking time off from this story to work on Wesley and Seamus some.

B).............That's what I like about Benny, he rebounds very well :*)!  Melvin's phone call did not surprise me, neither was his apology. However I am a little surprised because I thought he was also a 'known bully? Sooooo,  was he picking on others before the 'gay' guys in school?  Great picnic, get together and chapter!

Named after you and you still couldn’t remember? (You should use my excuse and claim to be reading too many stories at the same time! Too many to keep straight separate!)  ;-)

Named after you and you still couldn’t remember? Are you like @Wesley8890, using multiple pseudonyms, but getting confused about who you are? (You should use my excuse and claim to be reading too many stories at the same time!)  ;-)

B).................Nope, more like senility :P Me pseudonyms?  Heck no, I'm too lazy to learn how to create another account ( I wouldn't say I'm anti-technology but I don't even use a cell phone). I worry about the future generations will have elongated necks looking towards their feet.  <i do read too many stories at the same time :2thumbs:>

I think it’s more likely that future generations won’t know how to drive – just like they can’t spell! Too much assistance means they never learn the basic skills. Already, most people can only drive a car with an automatic transmission. Even into the ‘70s, many European cars didn’t even have that option! Why drive the ‘Ultimate Driving Machine™’ if it’s not equipped with a stick?  ;-)

Wesley uses @Wesley8890 and ‘Wesley Lewis’, but we know that’s his belovéd brother’s name. I didn’t mean he set up multiple GA Accounts. I know (theoretically) how someone might do that, but don’t think it’s worth the effort for the very minor gains you might get. Besides, I never date more than one person at the time (even when I was younger and in more demand), I get too confused trying to remember details of the one person I’m trying to get to know – I’d be just as confused and even more likely to make mistakes with two or more accounts!  ;-)

Hahaha little Leah must be channeling my little dog because he has no concept of fetch either and I've been trying to teach him for the last 4 years 😂😂

Out of all the dogs I've ever had only two grasped the concept

Nice chapter, as usual! The only complaint I have is that this gave us a pretty big spoiler for the Wesley and Seamus story, but I guess that's a risk you're willing to take since the 2 stories are so connected. But since you said you'd be working on W&S now, it's all forgiven :)

I love this story. Thank you Wesley you're too damn awesome for your own good.

PS: Benny said, "Fanks, Wes, I nearly falleded off da fence but you catched me." He also sent you this  and this . He'll see you real soon.

All caught up now. I freaking love these two stories. I am kinda surprised that no one has adopted a 4 year old boy who seems wise beyond his years.  We could even call him "Lenny".  Thanks for the great work.  Looking forward to much more.
