Being the start of a new week, Monday's are also a good time to take a look at some of the different stories that can be found on Gay Authors. With so many great works, it can be easy to overlook one and Monday's provide an opportunity for us to help make one of them stand out and maybe catch your interest. Today, we're bringing you a review by spikey582 of LitLover's story Unforgivable. Enjoy!

For my first official review for the site, I decided to go easy on myself and pick a favorite GA story from the last year: Unforgivable by LitLover. I discovered this just as Lit started posting in April of last year, and it was actually quite fun to experience a bite at a time, and see how fellow readers reacted to each new chapter. However, if you’re just discovering this story now, you’re in luck as you can experience the whole thing without those agonizing 7 day waits.

 

In Unforgivable, we are introduced to two characters, Corey and Jason, and they have a long history together. Corey is the best friend of Jason’s younger brother Drew, and they all grew up together. Very early on in the tale, Jason commits the titular unforgivable act, and cheats on Corey and Drew’s other best friend when they’re all teenagers. 

 

This is where the crux of the conflict is driven from. You see, Corey’s father has a long history of cheating on his mother, and repeatedly being forgiven. The lesson Corey has learned from the long years of his father’s serial philandering is simple. Once a cheater always a cheater. Can someone like Jason, a known cheater himself, be forgiven?

 

What I particularly enjoyed about this story was that each chapter is told through either Corey or Jason’s perspective. We get a good idea of what each character is about, what they’re going through. So even Jason, who seems like a jerk at first glance, actually becomes sympathetic and likable as we get to know him. 

 

Interestingly enough, LitLover, the very “Cliffie Queen” herself, didn’t leave us poor readers hanging from nearly as many cliffs during this story. However, there are still a few that will definitely propel a reader forward to find out what happens next. As I said before, if you’re just now finding this story for the first time, you’re lucky because you can now just plow right ahead and find out. This is definitely a “binge-worthy” story.

 

So hopefully I’ve piqued your interest with Unforgivable. It’s filled to the brim with drama, romance, and even a touch of angst. Seriously, go check this story out and get to know Corey and Jason. Once you’re finished with Unforgivable, you can start in on the spin off tale, Choices, that LitLover is in the process of posting right now.

I'm glad this story was featured because it made me realize that I don't think I ever finished it. :/  More from lack of time than lack of interest.  I really enjoyed what I've read so far.  Congrats on the feature, Lit!

Unforgivable is a wonderful human story with interesting and intriguing characters. It has just the right amount of everything, and Lit does a great job of bringing the story home. Yes, there is drama, but it is never overdone. There is heart too as she examines our perceptions that 'once a cheater always a cheater,' as spikey says in his review. I strongly recommend this for everyone. The author is a talented writer with an easy style and great instincts... you won't be disappointed. And yeah, I'm her editor, but this doesn't come from bias :) . Great review, spikey! Congratulations, Lit!

Unforgivable is a really terrific story about two very likeable MC. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend that you check it out.

Thanks for this amazing review Spikey! :hug: It's so hard to choose which of Lit's stories is my favorite, but I would give a slight edge to Unforgivable. :D

 Seeing the growth of Jason from the selfish cheatin' sack of sh*t to the warm and loving man he became on his wedding day with Corey, is simply breathtaking. :heart: And seeing Corey, who has such a negative view of cheaters, actually forgive Jason for his past mistakes had me in tears of joy. 

 

If a new GA member ever asked me for a recommendation, I'd point him or her straight to Unforgivable. :)

Great story review Spikey! 

 

Unforgivable is an amazing story that I won't hesitate to recommend over and over again.. A sign of a good book is when it changes and challenges the thoughts of its readers. Lit has done that here.. See the discussions... 

 

FYI: There is an unofficial fan based campaign going for the author to pen Book 3, tentatively titled "Unexpected"

 

Please start with Unforgivable, continue on to Choices and then throw your hungry birds into the ring for a Book 3 launch. Remember every 'cheep' counts.

Oh this was a great story. I found the MC's real and believable. I like stories where characters have the opportunity to redeem themselves and LL has done so very well with this piece. 

 

i'd recommend it and i'd be jealous because you can binge read it!!  oh wait i can too!!

What I loved about Unforgivable was how it mirrored how we act. Consider the scenarios with Corey and Jason.  Corey was once bitten twice shy, and yet, there is a possibility of redemption, maybe.  When they met up, it was fireworks on a level we've all experienced.  Can we tolerate this person? What is there making us feel this matters? What intrigues us?

 

We don't know. It wasn't really perfectly telegraphed, thank God, except we hoped.  Good storytelling leads us by the nose and keeps us wondering.  It gives us hope.

 

Throughout the story Jason grew and Corey healed. That is the essence of a novel. We see characters change, yet keep their voices.  They aren't different. They have learned. 

 

Lovely story to read, in my humble opinion.

For anyone who hasn't read this story... Do So! 
 This story has love, heartache, happiness. 
 The absolute best thing about this story. It revolves around family and friends. How those change over time. In the end... Hopefully you have a core group of friends who will be their for you.
