Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 10 - Jul.16)

Middle of July, so what should we talk about? What the heck, why not weather! I'm curious how things are shaping up in your neck of the woods as far as the weather goes.

In my hometown, it is Stampede :cowboy: week, and mother nature has so far cooperated. I don't think in the past 8 days we have had any rain. Temps have been around 30 C (86 F). This is too hot in my humble opinion. I know some areas of the world are having record breaking temps like Europe and elsewhere, so my heart goes out to them. Now for all of you in the southern States and other hot climates, don't you be calling us wimps over the 30 C weather, unless you want to come up here in -40 C/F weather and see how you make out where everyone up here continues on more or less like normal :gikkle:

Well enough of the weather channel, let's move on to the GA News Channel ;)

Monday, the Review Team gave us a great new story to either read right away, or put onto our reading list:

We took a 2 day break until Wednesday this week, where Valkyrie asked us about the 781 published Anthologies on site :o

Friday, Aditus was in to represent the Prompt Team with another 2 new prompts for us all:

Saturday was the conclusion of our broadcasting week and Comsie stopped by with a new Writing Article:

I think I missed the words of the day last week in the wrap up :o Bad Steve, Bad :( Well here is this weeks:

eradicate, envisage, orgulous, steganography, saguaro, cacographylollygag

Here is our weekly check in on where we are on the monthly Reading Goals half way through the month:

My electricity bill will be crippling by running the air-con but it's that or melt, lol.

And this mythic air-con is what exactly? 🤨😄 No air conditioning here. I fully expect to be spending the next couple of days with the curtains closed. All day.

I bought a portable air-con unit a couple of years ago, it does a great job too. But it cost a lot to buy and the running costs are not cheap especially since the cost of electricity and gas have shot up. I got mine from that well known high street store that begins with an A lol.

It's definitely been to hot here.  It's in the 90s most days (32-37 C), and some days it feels as if it's in the 100s (38-43 C) because of the humidity.  I'm paying that fall gets here soon.

This is an exceptionally effective way to keep the temperature down, it helps considerably with air-con cost, too. Sadly, but not too sadly, I never see my garden, but then again, it's too hot to spend time in the garden and quite frankly it's overgrown which is great for the bees and other pollinators, but the garden is looking scruffy beyond imagination. Then again, I don't see it with the curtains closed and I don't spend time in it either because it's surrounded by brick and it radiates heat which makes the garden too hot to spend time in it, and so I don't worry about my garden's condition... Is that a solution where everyone benefits? I have direct access to the garden, but other condominium owners in my mid 1800's townhouse do not; they must traverse down the fire escape or travel around the block and enter through the back gate; a journey of a full city block. This is to say that I have the sole use and I am also the only one to perform all the maintenance work which I have zero desire to do now in my dotage (if one can make fun of one's aging and make [sad] jokes about his aging that's a good sign right?). Anyway, stay cool as you can do.

I just spent the last few days in Kentucky and it was hot, although I've been there when it's hotter.  Thankfully yesterday was cooler, although it did rain in the afternoon and for my entire drive home.   It's beautiful now at home, although cloudy with on and off rain.  We desperately need the rain though, since we haven't had anything of significance since May.  I wish I could send some of the nice weather to Europe! It's supposed to get sweltering here this week, though.

@Valkyrie this what I would call 'melting' weather, today in Manchester it topped 36 degrees Celsius (96.8 f) - 34 degrees was forecast - and Chester topped 38 degrees (100.4 f). The weather forecast tells is for lows of 20 degrees (68 f) through the night and tomorrow is going to be hotter! Hopefully the forecast for Wednesday is accurate as then it should cool down, thankfully. Rain would be welcomed by many. Here in the UK we are not used to temperatures like this, I don't know how how people in other countries manage to cope with heat like this.
