Some say it is too late 5 days after, but screw them ;)! I'm still going to say Happy New Year! Maybe without the fanfare, but on behalf of all of us here at the GA News Blog and GA, we wish all your dreams and hopes come true in 2025 🥳

It must be the sign of my age :unsure:, but I was sound asleep by 11:30, with no real reason to stay up past midnight :). How about yourselves? Did you ring in the New Year with a party, or just maybe yourself and one or two others? Did you have a refreshing alcoholic beverage or two to celebrate the New Year? Okay, insert your age below if you agree with the statement that last year went by so quickly? :P Except Europeans, we don't want to run afoul of the GDPR and DSA by asking your age, so maybe say you are in the 1-100 age group or the 100 and over age group?  Usually the older you get, the faster they go. Somehow I can remember being like 15 and couldn't believe how long it took to turn 16 so I could get my drivers license or the two excruciating years to wait to 18 so I could go to the bars (change 18 to your local minimum drinking age)!

Speaking of age, I should bring up that yesterday was &#@*%'s Birthday. :D I am not allowed to say who it is, but if you guess, great job!!! At least they cannot say I told anyone 0:). 

Now the other thing I've remembered from past years, is don't ask if you have any New Year's resolutions, as people will be telling me how useless and silly they are. But, I'm a bit of a slow learner :whistle:, so did you make any New Year's Resolutions? 

We had a pretty short week at the GA News Blog, but for good reason. Anytime we have a Writing Event come to fruition, it is great to hear less from me, and more from some great authors who took up the challenge and gave us all something to read.

Finally on Wednesday, it is a day a lot of people were waiting for. The release of the 2025 Auld Lang Syne - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday writing event. Check out all six of the great stories here:

I celebrated the New Year alone at home, but I stayed up past midnight watching the various celebrations as the calendar changed here on the east coast of the USA.  No alcohol, but lots of coffee, and I agree, the older I got the short each year seemed.  I'm almost at the point where every time I wake up it's a new year.  :facepalm:  :gikkle: 

I gave up making New Year's resolutions a long time ago, because the never seemed to last very long, even with the year seeming to go by more quickly.  I guess that means I lack willpower.

Late or not, Happy New Year! Spent a quiet night at home with the Mrs. Stayed up way too late.

The years do indeed become shorter as you get older. Your 10th year was 10% of your life. Your 20th, only 5%. If you make it to 50, that year was 2% of your life. Every day that goes by is an infinitesimally smaller piece of your life than the day before. Of course the years seem shorter.

Happy Birthday &#@*%, whoever you are.

I don’t know what it is, but I’d gladly trade my upcoming colonoscopy for a chronoscopy.

Hope it goes well, Lee. I had my nineteenth colonoscopy in October, the prep is the worst part, the actual procedure is fine.   🤗🤗🤗

@Lee Wilson, I agree with Gary L.  I had my colonoscopy in early November and it was nothing.  It was the prep that gave me all the problems, so good luck.

The period was because it was at the end of the sentence.  Maybe I should have put the five-letter name in quotes.  :facepalm:

I usually don't make New Year resolutions, as I think self improvement should be a life long pursuit.  But I did notice near the end of the year that I was spending a lot of time on my phone and wasn't really enjoying it.   So I'm tracking my phone usage and trying to replace time spent on my phone with more reading and writing.  We'll see how it goes. 

And Happy Birthday to the mysterious stranger!

I have a New Year Resolution, but not for me. It tis for a certain Wildthang to not be so cheeky this year. We all know he won't last long into the year before he breaks it, but - maybe 2025 will be the year he 'finally' makes the effort. 

I do not make Resolutions, I don't stick to them. I know I've made them to do more writing in the past, that lasted about as long as my attention span does when I open a document. :D I shall try to finish the project I've had started since the 'Secrets' Secret Author contest though. I think I've nearly gotten there.

Okay, it has been a while since I played hangman :P So we will play for the mystery BDay person. But you all are in this together. One shot and that is it. So I'm off to bed and I wake up tomorrow and find five people responded with B E N J I that is five guesses and could be 1 shy of being hung if they are all wrong, or more likely there is a lot of the correct letters ;) 

So have at it :) at least you now know how many letters :gikkle:
