Moral and ethics questions, that's a development that should prove interesting later on. You shouldn't have signed, Dennis, this was a wrong choice! As washing down fruits with milk instead of plain, pure water...

I really enjoy where this leads, if there are more workplace shenanigans. The feeling I have so far is that Dennis is very lonely when he goes to work. If we may have some more interactions with other employees, it does give more flesh to the character, as what's going on with Peter here does.

You don't wash your apples and almonds down with milk??? :o:o:o

Actually, neither do I :ph34r::ph34r: I wash them down with Sprite, thank you :)

I agree with you about the signing part, but only time (or the next chapter :whistle::whistle: ) will tell what's in store for Dennis and his healthy snack options at work.

This chapter really caught my eye as I know being around the accounting office that things like this happen all the time. I cant wait for chapter 4. :P

You sly dog, Nick. (I would have said fox, but someone might think I was hitting on you. 0:) )

Chapter 3 ended with Dennis picking up the pen, "...and did the one thing that seemed right at the moment." I believe the one thing that Dennis sees as right is not signing the report. :2hands: He knows that if he signs this one, he'll be signing more like it for the rest of his career. He couldn't live with that.

Besides, being in love makes you more honest and courageous...and he's got it bad, this is his first real love.

What I'm really hoping for is Dennis having a tape recorder in his pocket. B)

This is a great issue to introduce to the story, Nick...business ethics. Many companies these days like to tout the fact that they have a quality management process in place. I'll tell you, though, these same companies will allow quality to fall out the bottom before they would allow the bottom line to do so.

Btw, where can I order one of them sticker sets? :P

So far, Nick has hit on two topic that can occur in any business setting. In chapter 1, he briefly touched on harassment. This is a serious issue that can't be tolerated by any employer. Doesn't matter if it sexual or otherwise.

In chapter 3, we're dealing with the issue of misappropriated funds.

In chapter 4,

what, you expected me to you a spoiler?

I'd love to believe you, Conner, and that you're right on what Dennis does (or doesn't). BUT...

After a moment of deep thought and serious contemplation, I picked the pen up, looked at Peter who smiled warmly at me, and did the one thing that seemed right at the moment.

Seen our characters have been rather civil so far, it would come as a surprise if the next sentence were: "I used all my might and all of my strength, and swinging my arm down, I stabbed Peter's hand with the sharp tip of my pen. The ensuing scream's pitch and volume only equaled my inner rage at having someone try to convince me I should let him cook the book."

This sure would make for an interesting development, but not exactly the one I actually expect. Nor the one Jan gave away in his coded spoiler.

It's a good thing you don't have much longer to wait... chapter four is up :)

Tragically, these things don't happen as often in the workplace (or at school or at home) as they ought to.

This was a fantastic chapter, Nick! I confess I've just read the 4th chapter as well, but I wanted to comment on my initial thought about what Dennis was going to do. I thought he was going to pick up the pen and write something naughty on the report instead of his name. Like "F%# you, you crook!" or something to that effect :P
