GaryK Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) Ahh yes, when the boys father was their manager, thanks for helping prove my point Gary . However, Helen still retained Jerry after the misfortune with Joe came to light. I don't recall the father ever being the manager. Helen was always the manager. The boy's father signed a quitclaim deed assigning control of Instinct to the boys, not to Helen. .........I'm wonderring if the "father" will make an apperance in coming chapters. Was he also involved with the shipping business? According to Chapter 8 J/S stated: "I Edited March 25, 2008 by GaryInMiami

MikeL Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 A good manager will care quite a lot about his/her clients' financial welfare. Smart entertainers will have a professional investment manager handle their money rather than their performance manager and the manager should be totally in favor of that. It wouldn't reflect well on a manager whose clients are "established" performers (i.e. no longer very popular) and broke at age thirty. My Point exactly mike. She could give a care less about where they are in thirty years. She could only care about what she can reap from the harvest before it runs out. She is obviously thinking further down the road then just her own gain. She is highly commendable in that regard. We're in agreement, I think. Anyone would rather manage The Rolling Stones than Milli Vanilli. And The Rolling Stones' manager(s) have had to put up with a lot from the band.
shadowgod Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Beh, I'm screwing my stories up again, mixing up real life with web based fiction however, with the absence of their biological Parents, Helen is serving as a surrogate mother to the boys. the proof was in the end of 19 Barbra said as gently as she could,
GaryK Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) You make a darned good point about Helen. Perhaps I need to reconsider my feelings about her. Then again, I could blame it on CJ by accusing him of casting eeevil magic goat spells to make me hate her, thus distracting me from what I should really be concerned about. What is it he doesn't want me to see? Edited March 25, 2008 by GaryInMiami

GaryK Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 .............Goat Spells?? Face it you don't like her because she's so bossy!!! Hmm. Maybe I have been taking "Rich Boy" a bit too seriously! OK, here's the deal. Yes, she's bossy. And yes she's absolutely a bitch. But in a good way cause she does seem to care about the boys! Oy, my head hurts.
Site Administrator wildone Posted March 25, 2008 Site Administrator Posted March 25, 2008 WOW Who started all this ??? They should be ashamed to being responsible for getting everyone riled up  !! First off, I have not used any derogatory names for Helen. But I'm still of the belief that J/S is using some of the bands money in the past, present, and maybe the immediate future to help carry out his plans. We know he used to be an arms dealer (HA, did anyone remember that???), but he still must be getting income from somewhere, and that is where the band comes in. Yes, I do believe that Instinct's primary role is to act as couriers for J/S's bombs, but why did he go the whole gay acting route to continue being their shipper. Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to walk in and say "hey, my son is a screw up, and in good faith, I know the logistics of your needs, let me continue to take care of your logistics and I won't charge you up front'? Now since I'm of the belief that J/S is siphoning off the band, I'm looking at all the inside circle to see who has the opportunity to help him out, and also be a loose end that needs to be taken care of by Mario. I floated Helen as being a possibility. I may be totally wrong, but really....who wouldn't put it past the goat to make us love someone for all of her motherly actions and best interest for the group and turn out to be Judas in the end? Almost a complete reversal of Eric in FTL, who started out as a bad a$$ and then ended up being in my opinion the hero of the story. Since nobody has come up with an alternative, then let me rephrase my question totally: Where does J/S get his income from (which really has to be substantial) to facilitate his dreams? Steve
Site Moderator TalonRider Posted March 25, 2008 Site Moderator Posted March 25, 2008 Where does J/S get his income from (which really has to be substantial) to facilitate his dreams? Actually, I think you answered your own question. We know he used to be an arms dealer
Benji Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 WOW Who started all this ??? They should be ashamed to being responsible for getting everyone riled up  !! Who indeed!! Almost a complete reversal of Eric in FTL, who started out as a bad a$$ and then ended up being in my opinion the hero of the story. Steve .......There you go again, Eric in FTL was not a hero, this Eric was only looking out for his best interest, it was in his best interest to kill, steal money, leave his brother alive so no one would be looking for him.

I agree. I certainly expect that Eric from FTL will be causing grief in the sequel. He is a preacher like his daddy after all.

Scar gets his money for his nefarious scheme from two sources: (1) the fortune he amassed from his arms deals and (2) contributions to his "charity" including those from Instinct and their manager. I don't think we've seen any behavior on Helen's part indicating she is in cahoots with Scar.

Steve I think my head is going to explode with all this back and forth about Helen, skimming money, and people getting killed. Is Instinct really making so much money that J/S could be skimming enough funds to finance his operations? We're talking millions of US dollars! IIRC in the most recent chapter J/S was thinking about how he only had US$5 million left. That's near the end of his operation. I somehow doubt he could be skimming that much money from the band without anyone noticing it unless he had an accomplice on the inside. So let's assume that's the case and wonder who it could be. Certainly none of the band members would have access to that kind of money. Even if they did what would the motivation be? Gunter isn't in a position to get access to that kind of money. That leaves Helen. She's the most logical one to have access to the money being taken in via the tour. If J/S is somehow skimming money and Helen is his accomplice why would she pretend give him a check for his charity when nobody was around to see it? And then why would J/S think about the sweet irony of Helen helping to pay for her own murder? Therefore I have to assume the money came from his previous occupation combined with the contributions he conned people into giving for his charity. Which in turn brings me back to wondering why anyone connected to Instinct needs to be killed. The only people I can see who need to be killed are Dimitri and Vlad. In conclusion I'm convinced that CJ has simply lost his mind and is leading us all toward an ending that involves some sort of time travel or the whole thing is someone's illogical nightmare. Sort of like that season of Dallas that turned out to be a dream. Edited March 26, 2008 by GaryInMiami

I think it would be safe to say J/S amassed quite a bit of money thru this type of smuggling and Instinct's piggy bank is safe.

And like most black market people, The Scar is willing to do anything to protect his interests, including murder.

So I doubt J/S is skimming any of the bands money, taking "any" contributions he can get.

Bands can make millions during the course of a tour and I don't think Instinct is famous enough to pull in the millions The Rolling Stones or KISS could.
BeaStKid Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Puh-Leeze! I agree, Jan... Instinct has just come out with two albums and is not that famous to attract that much of money, the kind of money J/S needs. I think the only reason J/S wants the Instinct to be knocked off is that they were/would be the couriers. That is all..

Unfortunately, I think that is only a part of his plan that involves Instinct. I think things may be getting far worse before they get better.
