"Swallowed" by Bush http://www.youtube.c...h?v=xhGUTu8Q4os **** I really, really, REALLY wanted to use "My Own Worst Enemy" for the Halloween party scene, but then I checked and found out it wasn't released until March 1999. So I can't use it. Damn it. I hope "Inside Out" was a proper sub for it. Edited November 19, 2009 by methodwriter85
GoWithIt Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 So I got one for the scenes where Matt hooks up with Carullo and dashes out in the morning. Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry The song came out in 1997, and is personally on all of my 90s playlists.

"All Mixed Up" by 311 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mtbdk7f8JM -When Matt goes to the gym to work off his aggression, and winds up blowing Gillespie in the locker room. "Outside" by George Michael -At the party, when Gilchrist punches Matt in the jaw, and Carullo comes to his rescue. methodwriter85 Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Chapter 34 -When Matt and Wade talk relationship stuff, then say their good-byes at the airport, and then JP tells him about Andre. "Gone 'Til November" by Wyclef Jean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17cmBnziQw4 -When Matt meets Max at the airport, and seduces him. "Strangelove" by Depeche Mode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kurrDKqP3ak -When Matt and Lou hook up with each other, then Lou explains his philosphy towards relationships. "Pleasure Principle" by Janet Jackson -When Matt gets with Max again, then later picks up his parents at the airport in San Jose, who fret over the "gayapalooza". "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WbPlpRBl_Y -When Matt relates to Max the whole sordid ordeal with Brian and Cody, and Max relates to Matt his own relationship drama. "About A Girl" by Nirvana -When Max and Cody apparently get back together, then has a hook-up with Lou after dinner before taking a nap. "Orange Crush" by REM Okay, so I'm calling this my "retro" chapter, since all of the music from this came from the mid/late 80's instead of the mid/late 90's. My reasoning is that since Max, Marcel, and Lou feature heavily in this chapter, I should use the music from "their" era, so to speak. Plus I'm plain running out of songs from the 1996-1998 era to use as well. LOL.
methodwriter85 Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 Chapter 36 -In morning after-glow with Lou, Matt has to deal with his nosy father. "Diggin' On You" by TLC -Depressed by the curt email from his parents, Matt gets comforted by Robbie and Brad. No, not in that way. "Baby, I Love Your Way" by Big Mountain -When Matt takes Wade home to Escorial, and gives him some welcome home. "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems" by Puff Daddy and Co. -When JP and Stefan announce how Matt will be taken care of, his parents be damned. "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly -When Matt and Wade descend into D.C. for Christmas. "Christmas Eve in Washington" by Maura Sullivan -At dinner, when Senator Danfield reveals what a kind and noble politician he is. "Master of the House" from Les Miserables (10th Anniversary concert) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFPsEwV38Q0

"Disarm" by the Smashing Pumpkins -When Matt talks to JP on the phone and plan how to stop Senator Danfield. "What It's Like" by Everlast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gliNv1eFF3w *** Before anyone comments, yes. I'm aware that "Disarm" was already used for "If It Fits", for when Darius lashed out at his good-for-nothing biological mother. But if Cold Case can re-use music, so can I. Especially if the theme of the song really fits the scene. So there.

methodwriter85 Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Chapter 40 -When Wade reveals to Beau what their father has been doing to him, and Beau comforts him while he joins them in planning to confront the Senator. "All I Want For Christmas" by Mariah Carey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5auMYfsh7gY *** I really, really liked being able to use Facade and Someone Like You. I really liked Jekyll and Hyde. I saw it at dinner theater in 2002. And "Facade" describes Senator Danfield perfectly. "Hands was another one I really liked using. I thought about saving "Hands" for when Mark gets to 9/11, but I thought it fit well in here.
methodwriter85 Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 Chapter 41 -When Wade and Matt experience group sex. "Kiss Me At Midnight" by N'Sync -When Wade and Matt, after their group love, talk about Wade's issues with intimacy. "I Never Knew the Meaning of Christmas" by N'Sync -When the family gets together and opens up Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" by N'Sync -When Robbie tells Wade about his own rape experiences, and offers him counseling sessions with a shrink who helped him a lot. "A Long December" by the Counting Crows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNF1a-ZG1uc I consider this song the theme of my life. I'm glad I got to use it in the story, for a moment it made sense for. It sticks out from the rest of the poppy stuff I used, but I figure with the moment it's scoring, it has to. -When Matt and Lou embarrass the country club crowd in Cleveland. "Break My Stride" by Unique II http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkJDL9lVvc0 I love the 80's version, which I used to hear a lot at 80's Nite at my favorite bar. I was going to use that until I found out there was a more period-appropriate version, plus...let's admit it, this is SOOOO something that would have been played at a gay club.

methodwriter85 Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 I remember when the Unique II version hit the charts, so this version wasn't new to me. On the other hand I had to find the 80s version - is it the one by Matthew Wilder? That clip from some TV show (here: http://www.youtube.c...?v=28KobNbbI2s) or better said that singer is sooooo gay! That link doesn't work for me, but yeah, its the Matthew Wilder version. I was going to use this for Man in Motion had Mark gone through with the original plan to break up Brad and Robbie for good, but eh. I think it's better for all of us that Mark didn't go through with plan. Here's a really cute cover from a 1980's kids show called Kids Incorporated: I used to love watching this show.
Mark Arbour Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I liked that song too. It was kind of lame in a kitschy kind of way, but cute at the same time.
methodwriter85 Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) Chapter 42 -For the new year and the new quarter, when Matt discusses his legal issues with Wade and Wade discusses his therapy. "Millenium" by Robbie Williams -For Stanford's first hockey game of 1999, against Santa Clara, where our boys win and celebrate at A-E-Ro house. "Larger Than Life" by the Backstreet Boys -When Matt plays matchmaker for Cole and shy, virginal girl named Allison. "First Night" by Monica -When Matt and Wade meet up with each other at the party, talk some more about Wade's hestiation to come out, and then go back home to make love. "Lullabye" by Shawn Mullins **** I honestly thought I'd NEVER get to use "First Night", just like I wasn't able to use "Let's Wait Awhile" by Janet Jackson or "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off". I'm glad Cole and Alli allowed me to use it. Because, you know, Matt sure as hell doesn't have any qualms about having sex on a first date. LOL. And I liked being able to use "Lullabye". I thought there were a good amount of parallels between the privileged-but-sad life of the girl in the video and the privileged-but-sad life of Wade. edited with links that work. Here's and Let's Wait a While. I happen to like anything by Monica. We do need a love triangle so that you use the divalicious song called The Boy Is Mine. I'm an avid hater of boy bands in general, so nicks on the Backstreet Boys... also the link to Lullaby does not work in the US for some reason. This one does. And The First Night didn't work either... though this one does. Edited December 11, 2009 by Tiger
methodwriter85 Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 I was able to find those. Here's and Let's Wait a While. It's not so much that I couldn't find them. It's that "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" and "Let's Wait A While" really, really didn't fit with Marcel in "A Summer Love", or the tail-end of "Man In Motion" with Brad. Practicers of chastity...these guys are not. LOL. Although I think it'd be hilarious if either JJ or Will decided to become abstinent when they're in high school. But knowing Mark, that will never happen.
