Anoni Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 He's been crying out for help for years. Surprised that he's having problems, that he's have a nervous breakdown? They shouldn't be. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it is really easy for families and friends to miss signs that a loved one is questioning their sexuality. It seems to me that Quinn was really ignoring it or avidly avoided anything that made him confront his feelings towards other males. His family did notice small things, but they didn't make the connection that there could be a larger issue at work. Bree knew that he wasn't really 'doing' anything with Mar, but didn't really wonder why. Brad noticed how he left in the middle of a date to wander off to some unknown location, but put it off to having broken up with Mar. It is easier to look back at signs than to see them straight on. Many people have issues with their sexuality and other problems that this can cause. I do agree that he has issues to work through though. Dom has done a good job of humanizing Jude in this last chapter. From Quinn's point of view it seems like he could become a bit too idolized.
glomph Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Wasn't Quinn's recent problems that much more surprising because he's always pretty well stayed out of trouble and been a good student and had the perfect girlfriend, at least as his mom and other distant observers of his life would see it? His orderliness could have easily been seen by mom and teachers as more of a virtue and made him more dependable and less organizationally challenged than many of his peers. Or am I not remembering things correctly, given the years or decades as it seems since I started reading the story?
Guest flash996 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 The next chapters can never come soon enogh!
Rabble_Rouser Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Well, if Dom does finish the next chapter before he heads out into the wilds, we'll be able to settle the arguement whether there was a cliff hanger at the end of 16 (Dom, Bring some bear repellant... I don't want to have to go into the Domaholics Treatment Centre for withdrawl ) I still think that Quinn is going to have some 'splainin to do the next morning when his mother finds Jude in his bed (I doubt she'll believe that her son is "one of those awful people" though)
Alan Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) I don't think Quinn is crying out for help and I don't think he shows many OCD symptoms. Okay, he's got a fetish for tidiness. He doesn't have rituals, he doesn't have repetitive washings, he doesn't seem to have a problem touching other people or encountering dirt. A fetish for tidiness, without the other things, is, well, a fetish for tidiness. I do think he has one problem - his mother is (or was) clearly using him as a confidant and giving him adult responsibilities he's not ready for. A kid should not be parenting a sibling to the extent Quinn is. A kid should not be managing sleeping pills without any supervision. Mrs Moore then goes into reverse, Quinn gets sacked as confidant, gets told to obey Bree, and loses the door to his room. But with all these exciting measures his mother cannot even be bothered finding out why he doesn't like the counsellor, or to be aware that a forced relationship with a counsellor is unlikely to work. The family, perhaps, has been crying out for help for some little time. Edited August 11, 2005 by Alan
Bardeara Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 The family, perhaps, has been crying out for help for some little time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agrree however, this is not a story about the family. It is a story about someone comeing to grips with who he really is and the rest is secondary. I still have to wonder if these kids go to the same school as Owen.
BoyNeedsTherapy Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Hmm, well, I can't say I've read every word of every post, but I just wanted to comment on the speculation about his cleaning habits. I like to clean too, so I wouldn't say that Quinn's obsessive just someone who likes things neat and orderly. 3) This quote from chapter 12 "As I looked around I saw that the pillow on my bed wasn
ekaitz Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 YAY!! About time!! Watching "Queen" blame everything on others was starting to get a bit frustrating, i mean, it was cute, yeah, made the story even more interesting, and sometimes i'd groan like "God this guy sure is thick!!" but watching him starting to open his eyes and mind, little by little is actually great . On the other hand, I'm curious to know what's going to happen next..are Quinn and Jude going to get some hanky panky? Poor Jude deserves a place in heaven.. right along me :king: and Brad..hmm..why do i feel there's more to Brad than dom lets on? Peace! (and sorry about my english, it's my 3rd languaje, so if any of u want to edit my post...LOL)

I mean this gay thing was all such a shock to his very ordered world. You're not the only one waiting impatiently for some kind of Quinn-Jude consummation. Who wouldn't? I can hear Mickie tapping his fingers. If you want Jude, you're going to have to get in line with the rest of us. :2hands: Welcome, Ekaitz! I believe you are our first Spaniard. Don't worry about your English. It's how you use the emoticons that is more important. Hugs, Conner
