Oh sure! Keep talking about the charter with the hot surfer boy while we have to endure three middle-aged women.

Well, Trevor, when it comes to workin' the tips, do what ya gotta do!

Fun chapter, CJ! The banter between Julie and Trevor is great. The "outing" was hilarious - the outing of his "situation" no less. :lmao: Julie set that up well.

Maybe that's the tack Trevor should take with his father, "Ah, Dad, I have a situation here." :P On that subject, Julie's take was his dad wouldn't be so bad with the gay thing. Is Trevor half-imagining his dad's negative reaction? We'll wait and see, I guess.

Each with a $400.00 tip. Not bad at all! :2thumbs:

Wow CJ, great chapter with a lot left to my imagination. Like what exactly does Trevor look like in a speedo thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I really liked the interaction between Julie and Trevor. I really liked the way she outed Trevor in order for him to out himself to her. I am also now curious about her comments about Trevor's dad. I too am going with the belief that Trevor is totally misreading his Dad's attitude when he brings up anything gay related.

I am going to comment that I sort of feel that each chapter has been an introduction of certain characters and certain routines of said characters that will be important in the future. Things like the anchor story may not just be for humour but also a key to something that happens further in the story. I just don't trust you to be so innocent innocent.gif .

Hey, can I make one more suggestion? I was thinking all your stories (okay, maybe not FTL), have all taken place in actual places in the world. Places that can be seen on a map. No matter how many times I look at a map of the southeast coast of Florida and the Caribbean, I can not remember exactly where they are. Things like how far from home port to Cocoa Beach to Bimini? If all the places are factual, any chance of getting a map of the most common areas of the story? I realize if I say this and it exceeds the territory of the Bermuda Triangle, then I might just get a map of the globe tongue.gif , but if you can....

Thanks for the chapter,

Who? Me? 0:) You can't blame me, it was Julie's idea!

Umm, you mean you'd rather have had a charter with the hot surfer than the three middle-aged women? And it was kind of a pool part (well, and ocean party) I think I'm still learning this whole gay thing. Okay, I'll try to remember; hot guys, not middle-aged women. 0:) 0:) :P

I like Julie; she's got a good sense of humor. :)

Thanks!

I can admit to one thing; you're right; sometimes, when I need to add information, I do it by making it part of a scene, not just dry narration. Sometimes, something humorous is there just for fun, and other times it serves multiple purposes, such as conveying information, or clues. :)

And, umm, a map? Errr, I did make one for the chapter, but.. I cleverly forgot to actually, you know, add it... oops! It's added now, and I'll copy them into this post too.

Those are google maps based, and I used placemarks on the relevant points.

My plans are to attach maps and other info to the chapters as needed. I'll attach them to the chapter, so as to avoid having a map page or similar be a spoiler. So, hypothetically (to avoid provoking the Echidna), if Trevor sails to, say, somewhere, the map and route would appear in that chapter, not a central map page. :) Oh, there will also be actual photos of locations.

Thanks for the reminder!!

Hmmmmm... a google map tie in? I like it, it brings the reader even closer to the story :)

Amazing idea CJ!

Just brilliant. :2thumbs: I love the setting on the boat and, to my mind, you have captured the setting and characters very well. The thought of Jamie in his speedos make me drool!

I really looking forward to following the story.

Best wishes.

Thanks for the maps too, CJ specool.gif .

A question about the Caribbean, are the waters pretty shallow throughout the area, or just around islands? I would imagine the number of cruise ships that head to the area they must overall be fairly deep.

Why I ask is that I believe the wreck of the Ares supposedly wrecked off the coast of Bimini, but no wreckage was found. I am trying to solve the story after 4 chapters, how am I doing? biggrin.gif

I've spent quite a bit of time in Google Earth while writing this story. In many cases, there will be maps, and also some on-scene photos. In one case, I found a map was absolutely required, because no matter how careful I was in describing the setting one one well-known place, it is a place that most everyone thinks is in a different location than it actually is. I dare not mention the place by name, because that would be a spoiler and the Echidna would get me, but the map of it is in chapter 12.

In Changing Lanes I used google earth .kmz files, and also links to google maps, for a couple of critical locations. For Circumnavigation, I'll use either google maps, or local maps, depending on what is needed in each chapter. :)

Loving the new story CJ! Keep those chapters coming!

Thanks! Weekly postings, every Tuesday, are my goal. I have a cushion of chapters, so I think I can hold that pace for a good while. :)

Thank you Wyndham!

Do you mean Trevor? Yep, he looks very good indeed in them; that's why Lisa makes a point of bringing guys she wants to set him up with to the pool, when he's doing workouts. :lmao:

I think this calls for a new thread, about the Bahamans. :) I'll get one started as soon as I've prepped some maps. Florida and the Bahamas aren't quite in the Caribbean, they are just a bit north of it.

The waters around the Bahamas can vary. Off Bimini, for example, there are huge areas that are very shallow (under 20 feet) even far from shore. The last reported position of the Ares, for example, is 20 miles from land, but it is in barely a hundred feet of water, and between there and Bimini (the closest land) it only gets shallower. :)

There are also many deep areas. In general, in the Bahamas you have some massive banks that contain the islands and vast shallow areas, and the banks are separated by deep water areas, such as the tongue of the ocean.

In the Caribbean itself, there are fewer areas of vast shallows, but there are a few shallow places. :)

I hope in the future dives there be more details of the dive.

I think more happen than Trevor lets us know what happen...

---

I'm trying to picture trevor in a speedo with diving gear.

Given the water pressure down at 90 feet and water currents stronger than a swimming pool.

I think that Trevor may have kept some bare skin details away from us readers.

Can you imagine the middle age women getting the caramel look at the eye candy!!

Like the possibility of his speedos kinda slipping off of him at times.

The embarrassing moments of trying to keep them on.

The accidental contact from the women.

That must be why it a $400 tip!!! ( like would you tip that high for a stripper keeping their cloths on!! )

I doubt he get a tip that high wearing the lazer racing speedos. (joke)

It sounds like the possibility of recurring business from these three!!

I'll see what I can do for a more detailed dive. :) I'll confess; I've only been scuba diving twice, so I'm sure no expert at it. (If anyone here is, please PM me!) But, there is a detailed dive scene later in the novel. I just hope I got all the details right. :)

The currents would be no issue for speedos; they fit snugly and are low drag. Divers (highdivers)wear them for that reason; they don't come off when doing a hands=first water entry.

I've done doves off 10 meter platforms (33 feet). That does not sound like a lot, but that's the height of the part you stand on. Feet-first entrys are easy, but hands-first, from that height, say a simple jackknife dive (the only hand-first typoe I ever had the nerve to try from that high) will nicely remove a pair of boardies. I can absolutely guarantee this is the case.

Fortunatly for me, they got caught on my ankles and I was able to pull them back on before surfacing..

Anyway, in speedos (the only thing I'd wear for highdiving after that) no problem. (I was on both the swim and water polo teams at the time... in part because I liked the scenery!).

But, as for Trevor... let's just say that, even without slipping, wet speedos don't hide much.

The tips... For a charter that costs a few thousand per day (chartering a ship like that runs about $2500 a day) Trevor and Julie's tip was good, but not outlandish. However, we may safely assume that without the eye-candy aspect, the tips would have been smaller. ;-)

Thanks!!

I just got done with chapter 4, Have a hot worker on a boat is nice, I do wonder if the dad is just worried about his son..

I wonder if Trevor will take Ben to his quarters on the boat ;)

B)................Actually I'd hope he'd take Ben to better quarters, his errrr, place seemed a bit cramped!

Trevor's quarters are a bit cramped, but he does have his choice of 4 suites to choose from when no one else is aboard.

Well in the 2008 olympics - Tom Daily and Thomas Finchum - sure showed signs of losing their speedos - mmm exposed crack!!

I have to agree speedos don't hide much - but they will slip eventually.

Even if two middle age women help give a tug!!! or a rub!!

----

Even though u only had two dives and probably seen enough calypso dives - there leaves a lot to the imagination.

Apparently you also know what it feels like to touch things down there and what it feels like to breath

also the dangers and the creatures ... eels or jaws

----

I coming to a idea - that his mom was taken - a cover up - to a bigger crime that Trevor has yet to unravel.

mmm even though Trevor been searching part time - I wonder if he figured about the possibility of foul play??

he certainly presented some sound logic of the missing evidence.

Sure hope Ben gets on into this adventure ... he said he wanted excitement and CJ the man to write one up

I am enjoying this story CJ. It's a great way to escape the winter's cold, if only vicariously. The maps and the pictures of Atlantis add a nice layer of detail to an already well-written story. I look forward to reading more. Thanks.

Aww, CJ did you have me in mind when you started this one?

I was born in Boynton Beach and lived in Boca Raton. As far back as I can remember, my family owned a power boat and we made frequent trips to the Bahamas with our power boat club. I especially remember Bimini, and traveling home in 20 foot seas (having a 39 foot Sea Ray enabled us to power through them at full throttle... I sang "99 bottles of beer on the wall" while my sister was getting sea sick lmfao).

How much do you know of the Bahamas? I remember on one of our trips, we motored up near a large wreck was that was only partially submerged. I think I remember it being a ship that ran aground and they couldn't save it, so it was abandoned. Might be a good chapter if you do more charter chapters. I forget where the wreck is, though. Google might help.

Nice choice of ship BTW. My father has toyed with the idea of getting a lightly used catamaran when my parents move back to Florida. He's jumped back and forth between a sailcat and a powercat, but either way wants diesels in his next boat.

EDIT: I think this is the wreck I was talking about, the SS Sapona. It was a concrete WWI ship.

I've snorkled a lot more than I've scuba dived (in fact, I've been a lot deeper snorkeling than I ever have with scuba gear, lol). Most of my snorkeling was in tropical waters, so I think I can show that aspect okay. I'll try. :)

Thanks, I'll have a look at that! :)

Those rage seas between Florida and the Bahamas can get very interesting. :)

I've been to the bahamas a few times, but not for long, just a few days here and there, and most recently earlier this year while sailing (on a cruise ship, not a yacht) from Florida to Italy. They would be a great place to do some boating, and that sea-ray sounds like a blast!!! :)
