Because you've turned him into a lesbian. :P

Anyway, I don't think there are lesbian stories on GA. I think there should be though, because lesbians are gay. Like there should be an http://lesbian.gayauthors.org or something. There isn't so don't try to enter that url, 'cuz it won't work. But seriously, it should work. We should welcome lesbians to GA. I'd even read a story (though I'd skip over the sex scenes).

I'm assuming Nifty would have a few. Although you'd probably have to sift through a lot of plotless-sex (in other words, porn) to find an actual story.

Edit: I just remembered that i actually started reading one sometime last year. i got bored somewhere around the 40/50th chapter, but if you're curious then go ahead. Singer by Tah the Trickster [Fictionpress.com]

It'd be interesting to figure out WHY only the bi and straight women and gay men hang out here. What makes a gay site end up falling on the male gay side or lesbian side? Is it simply a product of lesbians assuming that "gay" is tailored more for men and if the site meant lesbian they'd say it? Or is it just that straight women and gay men combined statistically read and write a lot more than straight men and gay women combined?

Thanks for the link. I'm up to chapter 5 now and i'm enjoying it. I'm glad that there about 40/50 chapters, although, yeah I can see why it would be way too much unless something dramatic happened (aliens, monsters, or end of the world dramatic, or a baby! That would be interesting)

So far, it's cute.

I'm not sure if you've watched Queer As Folk before, but i read an article a few years ago on why such a large percentage of their audience is made up of straight females when the show is primarily about gay guys. It's kind of psychoanalytical and also a little stereotypical but nonetheless it did raise some valid points about the audience, which are demographicaly similar to this site, despite the different mediums (tv show, fiction).

"Why are all these Straight Chicks Watching Queer As Folk?" [article]

I think that because this site does contain mostly (if not all) stories about gay males, straight men and lesbians aren't as attracted to it. Especially since those stories have already become such a large majority, the only people joining now are those interested, ie; the straight females, bi females and gay males. Maybe if the site had started off with an equal amount of gay male and female stories, more straight males and lesbians would have joined closer to the inception of the site, thus we'd have more lesbian stories and the GA community would probably be a little more diverse than it already is.

I have watched all of QAF and found the article to be pretty interesting - thanks for the link! I think you're totally right that the same thing is probably happening here, and in a similar vein I imagine most of the m/m fanfic out there is written and read by straight/bi women.

I think the general lack of lesbians and, as a result, lack of stories might have something to do with the way the community seems determined to make them feel unwelcome. The 1st 3 responses to this thread are pretty much a perfect example. 2 posts mocking the OP for wanting to see lesbian stories (what is he doing, turning female?!?!?!) whilst the third suggests some sort of strange segregated system of Gay Authers and The Bit Of Gay Authors Lesbians May Dare To Enter.

No wonder the site is low on numbers.

Also, a small note: Comments such as "I'd even read a story (though I'd skip over the sex scenes). " can't exactly help either... You need to be careful with language, you know. Saying "I would happily read those stories" is very different in meaning to "I'd even read those stories". Small hint - the second sounds as if you are reluctant and generally expecting something inferior to your usual reading.

I appreciate your response, Martin. You made a very good point about lesbians' reception on GA.

As for the first three responses which you disliked, you may not be aware that Camilo and Matt (TetRefine) are the closest of boyfriends. We were merely having some fun at Camilo's expense and the humor was very close to what Camilo himself frequently dishes out.

One additional point on the paucity of lesbians at GA, I think, is the fact that gay men, by definition, do not like the thought of sex with women. Most of the members would not read such stories, much less review or comment on them. They may well have good female friends of all sexual orientations, but have little if any interest in reading about lesbian sex. If this seems to be a distinction without a difference, please keep in mind it comes from a straight man. :P It's just an observation.

Hope you are doing well. Have not seen you in chat for quite sometime. Please join us there soon.

As a straight woman, I can tell you that I have no interest in reading f/f stories. I saw the reccomended story and I think I will try it just so that I can open my mind a bit. Even discounting the sex, which I wouldn't be interested in, I am not sure I care about the romanticism either. Whereas, the thought of two guys making love and behaving romantically is a huge turn on. Reading the emotions GA authors frequently elicit between characters brings me back for more.

However, I do think someone could post a story about lesbians here, but they would probably, though not definitely, be hard-pressed to develop a big following. Most people aren't going to riot or protest the presence of something "different" here. Hopefully.

Ok, so you're serious :):P.

Fiction press has a few on there, the site you are reading on at the moment - try searching on there for slash You'll probably find some good m/m stories on there too, more than the female ones (f/f), but just keep scrolling. oh and change the search feature to update date - don't know why just seems better.

This is a bit of a messy format but more stories in one place as it is dedicated to it. A lot are quite short too.

Or try this, lots more there:

let me know if you want more. of course there is the actual published stuff you can buy as well.

Just thinking ... if GA did want to widen their site, then they could approach some authors and invite a block over in one go to start a mini-community here as well, to begin with at least. I think it would be quite popular.

Women do like to read. I don't think that is the reason why there aren't any female stories here.
