Site Administrator Myr Posted December 8, 2010 Site Administrator Posted December 8, 2010 eFiction's days are now officially numbered. GA.Stories 1.0 Beta is now running on Gay Authors and we are in testing and eliminating bugs. This will be opened up to Hosted and Promising Author groups in the next few days. In all likelihood, we'll open it up to all author next week. After we open up GA.Stories for all authors, the following will occur: eFiction and the Forums will be decoupled. You will need to request your password at that time in order to log back in. Instructions will be posted when this occurs. eFiction posting will be disabled. You will no longer be able to post anything to eFiction when we switch over. The announcement forums will be closed and removed. GA.Stories has it's own ways of announcing stories. Dead user accounts on eFiction will be trimmed. (people with 0 stories) We will encourage everyone to transfer their stories to the new system. When the system has been emptied, it will be removed from GA. If you want to keep your reviews, you need to save them. I would start now. We are currently transferring all of the Anthologies and contests into the system now. When that is complete, the hosted authors will be moved into the system. When that is done, the Promising Authors will be moved in. When that is complete, we'll help the eFiction authors. All groups, once access is provided, will be encouraged to move their own stuff. The process is actually very fast, once you get into the rhythm. the hardest part is deciding the description data. Myr
DragonFire Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I’m assuming that all reviews will be wiped when we move to the new system then & the only way to keep them is a quick copy & paste! Correct? Also, will the new GA stories site run in a similar way; IE: with reviews, ratings & text format, or will the rating system be finally scrapped?
Site Administrator Myr Posted December 8, 2010 Author Site Administrator Posted December 8, 2010 The new system is superior in every way. Including a new and improved review system. And it is MUCH easier to use.
NightOwl88 Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Hey I was just wondering if a more definate date had been set for the change over, I've got a chapter that'll be ready to be posted soon but since the reivews are gonna get wiped out (i've saved mine already) I'd rather wait till after the change over, So i don't have to worry about missing a review. 1
Site Administrator Cia Posted December 11, 2010 Site Administrator Posted December 11, 2010 I believe Myr is hoping to open up the system next week to e-fiction. Currently there are several nasty bugs really messing up the submittal and editing process so that has to be dealt with first.
C James Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I've seen the new system: if you can use Efic, you can use this, and it is far better. It's very easy to use (easier than efic) and has some awesome features. I'll mention just one; you can set a chapter to post whenever you want. So, if upload it (similar to Efic, only easier) and set it to post in three days, at noon (or whenever). Or right away.
