Kavrik Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 If you are like me, you may have wondered just how popular vampires are now in books. Well wonder no more thanks to google... check this out. Google recently released an incredible new tool that searches across millions of books published in the last 200 years and graphs a word or phrase's popularity of time. Here's a graph of the popularity of Vampires vs Werewolves vs Zombies in literature over time. Pretty cool eh? Go check out Ngram and post your results in this thread.
Nephylim Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Groan. Double groan. Don't want vampires to be popular in fiction. Don't want the stupid myths to be even more deeply embedded in popular culture. I want to be taken seriously for what I am. How the hell is that going to happen when people think I either crumble or sparkle in the sun and am scared of garlic... I love the stuff and no one is going to be offering me garlic bread now The best thing ever is taking blood from someone who has been eating loads of garlic. Usually it isn't at all about the taste but that is... Mmmmm...
Site Administrator Cia Posted December 21, 2010 Site Administrator Posted December 21, 2010 LOL. Too cool. It's good to know what's popular if you want to be published though. Need to know the audience and all that. Of course if it's not your style as a writer (or supernatureal being) that's your call!

Nephy you will always and forever be my favoritest vampire and if I see you in person, I will always offer you garlic bread and keep a chopstick handy in case you get unruly.
