mmike1969 Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) Are you hinting that you're going to let Darius experiment with a guy when he's overseas in Iraq? why not? I bagged a str8 MP or two (with enough cheap beer)... Edited August 6, 2011 by mmike1969
methodwriter85 Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 (edited) -Schluter boys must be incredibly whiny and angsty about all of their love interests, even ones they dated for five minutes. Note: Will has gotten much better about this. Edited May 1, 2013 by methodwriter85
methodwriter85 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 (edited) Westie's bit in the 9.11 thread made me think about this thread...I thought I'd bump this up. He made an incredibly great point- that typical soap opera rules don't necessarily apply to CAP, and that made me think about how the CAP Saga does indeed have a separate set of rules. 23. No one locks the doors when they're hooking up with people, even when it's two figure skaters who need to maintain the appearance of being straight-as-a-board and thus must be extremely discrete. I totally can't believe we forgot this one. 24. CAP kids and parents are completely and totally comfortable talking about their sex lives with each other. Or hell, a kid could walk in on their parent having sex with someone young enough to be their kid and not cringe at all. I wonder if that's the French influence coming in. PrivateTim Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 9. Someone will usually die, sometimes by murder or some other horrible death. See ya Tony!!
mmike1969 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 See ya Tony!! Come on now. Killing tony will only bring drama towards Will. Now, lets say Mark kills of Will... Yeah that will send everyone in a tizzy.
mmike1969 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 25: Gay/bi lead story male has sex with a female at least once.
methodwriter85 Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 25: Gay/bi lead story male has sex with a female at least once. And usually, this leads to procreation. CAP lesbians are lining up to do procreation the good ol' fashioned way, instead of the turkey baster way. There's been some interesting discussions on TWOP about the media depiction of lesbians- that there's this myth propagated in the media that lesbians cannot be exclusively attracted to females, and that the "right man" can persuade a lesbian to have sex with him. Here's an article that explains that position: I'm Not The 'Media Lesbian' : Media portrayals trivialize lesbianism I remember when the U.S. version of Skins had the lesbian teen character decide to have sex with a male character- maaannnn, the complaints were pretty bad.
mmike1969 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 26: Once a character has been demoted to secondary status (or has always been secondary) eventually they get some massive payout or a chunk of property by the family. Examples would be Ace, Gathan, Max..,
methodwriter85 Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) That does happen, although in Gathan's case, he got the money while he was the protagonist. That kind of feeds into rule 27, which is... 27. The Cramptons and Schluters have an endless supply of money, and can constantly blow money on extravagent gifts for people who are simply just nice to them. I did get the feeling that the Danfields are probably much, much more conservative with their money. Wade does some generous things, but not to the level of the Cramptons and the Schluters. mmike1969 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 28: We define the term "just being nice to them" as "you slept with them". (Did we really have to explain this? Seriously?) ie Cody, Cole, John, Sean etc, etc..
methodwriter85 Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) True. Sleeping with a Crampton or Schluter boy and having a conversation about how you're down on your luck can get you anything from a really nice car up to a 5 million dollar trust fund. Noah could have gotten so much more than three Abercrombie polo shirts if he had decided to get all gay with Will. Although...I'm getting an inkling with Will that he's not going to be quite along the same lines of his grandfather and father in terms of giving nice cars to his sleeping partners. The deal with Noah was about making reparations, and Will seems a bit more wary about people only wanting to be his friends to mooch off him than either JP or Brad in their youth did. Which makes sense, because the Cramptons/Schluters seem to be much more infinitely wealthy than they were a generation or two ago. They haven't really met up against the "proud" blue collar mindset, where taking gifts like that is just not something you're supposed to do. We got an inkling of that with Wally and Clara- it would be stupid for them to turn down having their kids's college education funded but they haven't really taken much personally from Robbie, as well as Noah's mother not being cool with her son being given three 70 dollar shirts, but no one has ever flat out refused. Mark Arbour Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 You guys really are missing the target with this latest discussion. This family is fluid. They're not taking guys like Gathan and Cody in and buying them shit because they're boy toys, they're doing it because they're incorporating them into their family. The family is very structured, but the admission process is a lot easier than admission to the Danfield's world. So a guy like Cody, or Gathan, or Wade is accepted as a naturalized member of the clan, embraced by the family. It's not a blood thing, necessarily. 1
methodwriter85 Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 I'm not sure this is a rule, but...wow, Schluter mothers have almost as bad of a death rate as the Hayes, don't they? There's Stefan's mother, Brad's mother, Bitty, and now Jeanine. Ella should be counting her lucky stars that Darius didn't get her pregnant. It seems like the Schluters in general get a lot of trauma heaped on them in general. 1

Carlos Hazday Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 My 2 cents...... 1. Don't knock the older/younger thing. If it wasn't for twenty something's having a daddy fetish, this 55 year old would rarely get laid. I'm sure the muscles, tattoos and Harley help but still...... 2. Is it 4:20 yet? 1

methodwriter85 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 I mentioned this before: Stay the hell away from the Schluters! No, it's "have some fun with the Schluters, get a new car and/or college tuition from them, and THEN get the hell away from them!"

PrivateTim Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 John is masculine? Compared to what? Jeremy? 2
B1ue Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Jeremy? I may have laughed at that. Besides, are any of the listed names their actual birth names, or simply what they are called? Joey and Johnny are, going with the odds and their class, Joseph and John. And I thought Tony was Antonio, but I may have stories crossed. 1

methodwriter85 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) Names like Hayden or Braeden or Brice or Riley or Peyton and the like. Kinda effeminate, unisex names. I think it's the idea that every Italian-American guy we've met here have been masculine as fuck. I've met effeminate Italian guys, too. Jeremy? LOL. I actually used to hate my name for a long time. I tried to get people to call me Remy, but it never quite took off. There was also a time where I wanted my name to be Jasper. Every once in awhile I'll go by J.R., but I try to avoid telling people my middle name is Richard, as they almost inevitably make a "Dick" joke. Funny theory I heard once about my name- back in the late 1960's, there was a show called Here Come The Brides, which starred teen idol Bobby Sherman. The show had characters named Jason, Jeremy, Joshua, and Aaron- all names that exploded in popularity during the 1970's and 1980's, when the teenyboppers watching that show would have entered their childbearing years. Coincidence, or not? Kinda makes me think about how there were suddenly all these little girls named Addison running around after Kate Walsh's character on Grey's Anatomy, or how Aiden gained popularity for boys after Sex and The City. Or if I see a thirtysomething woman who's named her son Dylan...I figure she's gotta be a former 90210 fan. Edited October 10, 2013 by methodwriter85
Kitt Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Will probably be a spate of Edwards and Jacobs in the next few years as well.

I've met some effeminate Italian-American men, and we've had some in the story, but they don't get to pick their own names, those are usually chosen by their parents, and that means they're normally pretty traditional, and pretty Catholic. Or at least they were back in the 80's. So lots of guys named after saints. But who don't act like saints.
