Celethiel Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 http://www.theonion.com/video_embed/?id=27565 A friend of mine showed me this It's sad...
Fishwings Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) You know that this is The Onion right? xD This isn't really funny for once, but it does make a good point. Edited December 10, 2013 by Luc Rosen 3
A.J. Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I have to agree with Luc, this isn't funny at all. Usually the Onion makes me laugh... This just makes me sad that they think this is funny. 2
Mann Ramblings Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 The problem is that this video isn't over the top enough to be called satire. This kind of hiding from your peers is an all too real occurrence that many of us can identify with. I would hope this is an attempt at some kind of public service announcement, but I don't think it's successful if that's the intent. 2
JamesSavik Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I used to do stuff like that. I had a number of places where I would go so I wouldn't have to deal with people for a while. That probably saved a few people from being brutally murdered. Hate to see a cute little kid doing the same thing. 2

Hopefully they weren't actually trying to make fun of this phenomenon because there's nothing funny about it xD
Bill W Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 So much time has passed since I was that age, yet so little has changed. We can only hope a day will come when things like he's doing is no longer necessary.
Y_B Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I ate by myself in 7th grade...not cuz I was gay...I was just a huge dork There's something nice about eating alone....and if you start to rock back and forth in your chair, people may even think you're insane so when you go steal someone's food, they don't know what to say

W_L Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) I ate by myself in 7th grade...not cuz I was gay...I was just a huge dork There's something nice about eating alone....and if you start to rock back and forth in your chair, people may even think you're insane so when you go steal someone's food, they don't know what to say Did the same thing until 9th Grade, then I joined the Bible Thumpers They were nicer than a lot of other kids, ironically enough. Later, I sat with the Anime kids and eventually just skipped lunch and joined the geeks in the computer lab playing LAN games. (I was always a geek at heart, so I am proud to be among people that enjoy the sound of a hardworking internal fan ) Loneliness is a hard thing to deal with, it is even harder to come to grips with. Eventually kids will find their own group of friends or cobble together enough outsiders to form their own group. Edited December 11, 2013 by W_L
Celethiel Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 well not all things said by people who are comedians are meant by them to be funny... do you think everything that comes out of Woopy goldberg, David Letterman... etc is meant as a joke or to be taken as humor?
Sasha Distan Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 i eat lunch alone - in my classroom. It's either that or argue with the oestrogen levels of my co-workers. i like eating lunch alone, it makes eating dinner the hubby that much lovelier. 1
totallyy Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I eat alone all the time and I'm a 20 yo college freshman. Don't like having people interrupting my food. 2
Daddydavek Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hopefully the kids that bully him won't see the video and give him problems in his last place of refuge.....
Ron Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hopefully the kids that bully him won't see the video and give him problems in his last place of refuge..... I agree. I thought of this as well. If it is in fact real and I am not entirely convinced that it is, he could be in for additional harm.
Fishwings Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Nah guys this video isn't real, it's made by the Onion.
