"Gay" Authors?

I've read a few stories on this site without an account before, but I'm honestly confused about the concept of the site name. Is this a site only for authors who identify as gay (seems unlikely based on the registration process allowing one to select that they are straight), or a site where characters involved in the stories are always gay males (my experience reading here), or is other content such as stories about lesbian, bisexual, trans, etc. characters allowed? I do write stories about gay male characters, but those stories often include other LGBT+ characters as well; would I need to remove non-gay male romance and explicit content? Thank you for any answers; I was unable to find this information in the FAQ.

I'm not an Admin. From my experience, GA is about inclusion, and not exclusion. I can say that the Story System has Tags, and Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian, and Transgendered each have a tag. The majority of stories on the site are Gay Male in nature, and according to the Tags it shows:

Gay - 1,706 stories tagged

Bisexual - 155

Lesbian - 62

Transgender - 29

Granted it's up to Authors to tag a story, when it's being setup, and not everyone tags them as GLBT.

As in the real world, GA have all kinds of people and story characters interacting with each other. You are free to include straight people in your stories as well as LGBT. In fact, the most popular character in one of my stories happens to be the straight brother of one of the gay characters. So don't change anything, but tag your story appropriately and write a story description which reflects the content, and you'll be fine. However, you still have to follow the rules about sexual explicit content, and I would add a warning at the top of chapters having het sex or you may get a few Eeewww   comments.

"Gay" authors because 15 years ago when we started "Gay" authors, "gaystories.com/.net/.org" were all taken.  And "gay" was pretty much what everything was.  Then something called GBLT came along... then LBGT... then today's alphabet soup.

All stories are welcome.  I just don't think straight ones will have much of an audience here.  It is true that our audience skews towards gay teen male stories... but I'm not sure if that is a chicken and egg problem or not.

Hey Myr, is that an unintentional pun - LOL!

Chicken can be used, usually by gay men referring to other gay men, to mean a young gay man or young-appearing gay man—stereotypically describing an adolescent or pre-adolescent youth - (Wiki).

Thank you so much for your replies, everyone! I will of course appropriately tag anything I post. I've posted stories on other sites before, but have never experienced such a welcoming atmosphere. I really appreciate it!

Welcome Lacuna. GA  is really like another home for who ever wants join. Relatively welcoming, so friendly and enormous knowledge to learn from everyone. You'll find it soon...
