We have a foot of snow over here...

Blowing snow out here in the wild, wild west.  Not enough to drift, though, fortunately.  I haven't even opened the door all day.  Drinking lots of tea to stay warm.

Thanks for that explanation.  I've wondered about various lifestyles within DiC specifically,  but have been reluctant to ask.  I've lived a rather sheltered life, "closeted" in more than one sense.  I'm fully accepting of the choices of others, but am often ignorant of what those choices involve,  so many words like "Dom" and "sub" are only vague concepts.

we're all pretty open

Mac Sir and Michael Sir have always been willing to answer questions

if you have questions, ask.  if it's something i can answer i will, if not, i'll defer to the Sirs

School Assignment: Select a topic from only on this list of opposing viewpoints on the following database website.

Me looking at the website: Hmm, let me go with Same-Sex Marriage.

School Assignment: Research your topic for the primary opposing viewpoints only from this website (the same we got the topic from). Then write a three or more paragraph essay in APA formatting (don't need topic sentences or thesis statement). Write this essay validating each opposing viewpoint and in support of them. Only use sources that are reliable, credible, and free of bias.

Me looking at the website: You want me to use HuffPo, the failing New York Times, and fake news CNN as credible sources? We just went over in chapter 6 this week about bias in the media, and the book pointed out that CNN, MSNBC, and FOXNews are all skewed and bias. Also, 90% of all print media is biased as well.

Me in private message to the instructor (whose nice, friendly, and willing to help and answer questions): All my sources on the website are not credible, per the standards we are supposed to using based on chapter 5 and 6 this week. Can I use another source?

Instructor: I'm sorry, but the University says you have to use only this website and its databases. Try to use what you can, and see if there are any academic studies you can use.

Me beating my head on the desk, as I just hit the end of my topics database section, with nothing but biased sources that only support one side of the topic... I'll let you guess which side.

The positive thing in this post is that you are smart enough to recognize the contradiction and appreciate the irony.  Pity the sheeple, mostly younger, who don't.  It's too bad that getting a degree is basically game playing BS.  :sheep::sheep::sheep:

A, my advice is not to beat your head against the wall over things like this, when it is outside of your control. I understand your frustration, but you are dealing with the syllabus and the curriculum of a college course. Getting worked up over things like finding credible sources will drain you, and it will drain your focus. Try not to stress too much over the smaller stuff - focus on the bigger prize. Remember, you're only 3 courses in.

Spot on.

Good morning! Wonder if any of you are still up. :P It's 9 am here now. Could have slept another 20 minutes, but too congested for that... Gonna nap when I get back home from my appointment, I think.

repartee Audio pronunciation

noun | rep-er-TEE

Definition

1
:
a quick and witty reply

:
a succession or interchange of clever retorts : amusing and usually light sparring with words

:
adroitness and cleverness in reply : skill in repartee

One person often noted for her repartee was Dorothy Parker, writer and legendary member of the Algonquin Round Table. Upon hearing that Calvin Coolidge had died, she replied, "How can they tell?" The taciturn Coolidge obviously didn't have a reputation for being the life of the party, but he himself came out with a particularly famous repartee on one occasion. When a dinner guest approached him and told him she had bet someone she could get him to say more than two words, he replied, "You lose." Repartee, our word for such a quick, sharp reply (and for skill with such replies) comes from the French repartie, of the same meaning. Repartie itself is formed from the French verb repartir, meaning "to retort."

Morning, Kitt! I need, like, two hour long appointments to address everything I need to talk about, tbh. Today we just talked about school and meds. Definitely falling into a depressive episode, which, you know, fun! Thankfully, without those awful anti-depressants I used to be on, I may actually be able to write myself through it.
