rickproehl Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Excuse me Good Sirs and DiC friends. How has your day gone? Like the rest of the country we are getting ready to work from home. The city now feels cold and lonely. All the restaurants are now drive thru only. Get in line , place order , get order go home. Very little interaction with another person. i miss the smile of the clerk the friendly greeting of other customers. The stores that are open are crowded with everyone looking like this might be the last time they will get out. What i fear the most is that this is the new normal. What have we become afraid of the unknown ? i hope that all the Good Sirs and DiC friends stay safe. So take care of your self. So my question is “Hi how is your Day?” 3 1

Popular Post Wayne Gray Posted March 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 17, 2020 @rickproehlThere's a pattern to epidemics. This one is following it. It's not special in that respect at all, COVID-19 is following a curve we've seen repeatedly. Lots of people will get this. There will be disruption to our lives for a while. But this will not, in any way become our new normal. The measures taken by governments and local jurisdictions are good ones. They spread out the time it will take for the virus to infect the biggest groups of us, and by the time most people get the bug, the first ones who've had it will be better. Those folks will be able to take care of the next wave of infections, and more importantly ... handle the needs of infrastructure that have to continue. Society and life will go on. Right now, this isn't normal at all. This is a population adjusting to measures they've never had to endure. There is bound to be some pain there. We'll survive. Hopefully, we'll be a little wiser, and a bit more inclined to listen to experts instead of talking heads on television - but, we'll survive. 1 10
Site Moderator Reader1810 Posted March 17, 2020 Site Moderator Posted March 17, 2020 (edited) @mollyhousemouse glad to hear you’re eye appointment went well. @rickproehl The new normal (for not too long, I hope) is of varying degrees here. Public meeting/eating/entertainment areas are shutting down. Malls are currently still open, but with reduced (not by a lot mind you) hours. My driver’s license and health card are due to be renewed in April, so I plan on doing that tomorrow. My mom told me she read Service Ontario (provincial vs Federal which is Sercive Canada) offices would be closed as of tomorrow due to the virus. Luckily, she got the wrong, and it’s the city offices here in town that are closed. Thankfully, that was one ‘oh crap!’ I can rescind. Edited March 17, 2020 by Reader1810 5
Popular Post Kitt Posted March 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 17, 2020 Boss called me today to discuss how we should handle a large scale quarantine. I said simple, impliment plan b. I ordered enough grain and hay to keep us three weeks, recommended all lessons be cancelled, and to call boarders to inform them that we will exercise their horses if they are showing any signs of illness, they should stay home. He said he didn't know we had a plan b, he would start calling boarders immediately. 1 8

Popular Post Starrynight22 Posted March 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2020 It's only Tuesday of week 2 of the work lockdown and I am D.O.N.E. This is exhausting. I know plenty have it worse. But this is no cakewalk. I just want to walk around Target. And maybe go see my friends. Sigh. 6

Kitt Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I can't believe some people STUPIDITY. The state is systematically shutting everything down, implementing supply chain plans, etc. New York City has said a shelter in place order is being considered, yet our lesson program is only shutting down the beginners. Intermediate and advanced students capable of prepping their own horses are going to continue. Head of the program says she cannot afford to shut down. Interesting fact, beginners make up about 5% of her student base. They make up 100% of mine. Can we say short sighted? 5
Popular Post MichaelS36 Posted March 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2020 Remembered I needed meds refilling. tim said call them they don't want you there. I was going to drive over, but, called. Don't come here, see your pharmacist and he will fax us. I went, he did, pick up tomorrow. Wow. tim's work gave 75000 staff members 5 more personal days each, on top of the usual ten. Plus 3 months of the medical app the insurance offers at ten dollars a month. That was a nice surprise. 4 5

We all sometimes need it. And, in these recent days, especially when we are isolated, maybe lonely, unsure ... you need to say it, get it out. i'm glad you did and you come back when you need/want to. Hang in there ... we all need to do that. A couple of customers yesterday were very kind ... saying you all must very busy and stressed, just take your time.. and thanks for being there. So some people care, others are stressed too... but be kind to each other. I skyped with a couple of other team members yesterday.. just to say hi and stuff ... My boss was right on the ball ... if I contacted him, he was right there. That helps too, that we can reach people if we need help. hang in there everyone ... we will get through this ... we will. xoxo 8
rickproehl Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Excuse me Good Sirs and DiC friends. How has your day going? My work is waiting on headsets for the laptops they are providing so we can start to work from home. So that should be first of next week. The training has been fast but good on the new soft phones. So all the phones need is a Wi-Fi connection and my I’m able to work. My work has stepped up and waived disconnections for everyone for 2 months. So waiting like everyone else. So everyone take care and stay safe. How is your day going? 3
Site Moderator Reader1810 Posted March 18, 2020 Site Moderator Posted March 18, 2020 First it was hoarders trying to make a buck off the coronavirus now it’s scammers. Be wary of unsolicited emails/texts/phone calls... *sigh* 3 1
