Seriously, I hope your Monday-Tuesday (that sounds like a religious celebration) improves. 3 1

Brayon Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Week 2 of my course starts today. Not much to do this week with readings and videos, but we have a full research paper due next Monday. I figured out why I'm doing well in my courses. It's because they are one at a time. High School and my first try at college, left me struggling, because of all the classes at once. But with it being one course at a time, I'm doing a lot better than I did in the past. Off to do stuff. Catch you all later. 2

And the wind.. yup it’s going to be a chilly one.. my bed won’t stop whispering ‘come back’.. Stay warm.. It was only whispering? Mine was shouting "Its supposed to be your day off, get your ass back here!" Of course day off didn't happen. Had paperwork to catch up on but at least I can do that from home! 3 hours ago, Mikiesboy said: It's my Wednesday. i think i just am not a winter person.. dark in the morning, dark when i come home.. i hate it. i realize my thinking is flawed.. but whoever thought of that can f-off too. Flawed hell! I hate going in to work in the dark and coming home in the dark too! And there is such a thing called Seasonal Affective Disorder, where you don't get enough sunlight and your body suffers. A grow lamp over your computer helps! 5

Vitamin D supplements also helps, @Mikiesboy. We get vitamin D from sunlight, and without it we grow lethargic. 2

I'm struggling a lot cause of that now, too. Unfortunately, I don't have much choice; it's just how my school works. I'm seriously concerned I won't graduate. 2

It's especially problematic when you're trying to stay afloat financially at the same time. I'll share the mock-Latin advice that I just learned came from Margaret Atwood's Handmaid's Tale: "Nolite te bastardes carborundum." 2

Finances are a concern as I am incapable of working and studying at once because of my bipolar disorder. I get by right now, though. 2

I learned that as illigitme non carborundum loosely translated don't let the bastards wear you down. 3

Indeed. The fake Latin expression seems to exist in various forms. I had learned noli illegitimi carborundum. I used the other this morning because it seems to be the predecessor to the rest, and the literary reference seemed very appropriate for this community. 🙂 Edited December 4, 2018 by Backwoods Boy 3
Site Moderator Popular Post Reader1810 Posted December 4, 2018 Site Moderator Popular Post Posted December 4, 2018 Feeling quite impressed with myself, I am. I was changing a burnt out bulb last night and discovered the new one wouldn’t screw in for some reason. Well damn, the end of the old one broke away from the bulb and was stuck in the socket. What to do, what to do? Why ask Mr. Google, of course, because surely he knew what to do. Sure enough. he did. Cut the power to be safe than used pliers (they need to be open and pressed against the sides of the silver piece ( no idea what it’s called) and turned the pliers to unscrew it. Lo and behold, the silver piece came loose and I was able to get it out, so I could put in a new bulb. It may may just be me, but I found I had to use two hands, because I couldn’t keep the pliers open doing it one-handed. I know I’m probably preaching to the choir for at least some of you, but hey, I learned some new and helpful (no need to purchase a bulb extractor tool) so I thought I’d share it with you all. 6

I've heard of people using a potato to do it. 4

I can just picture bits of potato stuck on the socket - with my luck, anyway - and just thinking about trying to clean that out? No, just no... 2 1
