I ask because I know that in Dutch a word that ends in "d" is usually pronounced as though it ends with a "t". For example, the Dutch word hond (hound, or dog) is pronounced hont.

They look better in the photo than in real life. They're getting threadbare in places, and have suffered water damage under the upstairs landing windows. And they're only made of some sort of synthetic material (nylon, I suspect), not pure wool.

I'm going to bake a piece of halibut to serve with sautee broccoli rabe and mixed grains.

I steamed and mashed some potato, carrot and swede (rutabaga), then put it in a casserole dish, grated cheddar cheese on top, and baked it in the oven for 20 minutes. Followed it with a slice of banana loaf.

No, it's said with a very soft D, which can hardly be heard. There is no equivalent sound in English.

It seems as though modern Danish is the only language to end his name with the letter "d"...
