And some blackcurrant (and maybe redcurrant) bushes. Oh, and a root or two of rhubard, as well! Not to mention a few apple trees (and maybe a pear). Looks like the majority of those may have to be on next year's shopping list. It took me three years to get rid of two separate patches of rhubarb. I dug up some of it, and kept mowing over whatever sprang up. The suckers are hardy. One was near the fence and my neighbor was worried about his cows eating it. Apparently it is toxic as it matures. The other patch was beside my barn where I used to park the horse trailer. I wish now I had replanted it elsewhere. 3 3

The leaves of rhubarb contain very large amounts of oxalic acid, which is toxic (causing kidney failure) to humans. Apparently in Britain, during World War 1, there were a number of fatalities caused by people boiling and eating rhubarb leaves as a substitute for cabbage... 1 5 1

Popular Post Marty Posted April 5, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 5, 2020 Well, guys. I reek of bonfire smoke. So I'm going to have a shower. And then I shall throw all my work clothes from the past couple of days in the washing machine to get the smell out of them as well. Maybe chat you in a while... 6

My mom always made homemade jelly when I was a kid, from berries we'd go pick or grapes from our neighbors' vines. My absolute favorite was grape jelly made from our neighbors across the street's grapevines. Sadly, the neighbors have both passed and the vines are long gone, so the jelly is a distant memory now. The closest I've come to tasting something similar was when I visited Cole a couple of years ago. He made grape jelly that was very similar to my old favorite 1 6

[EDIT: Fortunately I have a number of strawberry plants in tubs] Garden nurseries will reopen this week as it is considered necessity and to save all those plants that would have otherwise been destroy. One of our raspberry plant already has some unopened flowers, about 1/4of the strawberries are in bloom, the redcurrants are full of tiny green flowers and the blackberry plant seems to have unopened flowers too. I've got the feeling it'll be a good year 🤞🏻 2 5

I had sent the doc to my email, but that version was even shorter than my word doc. I'll have to do it more frequently from now on, but I'm sure I'm hitting keys that delete... just don't know what they are. The doc ends in the middle of a sentence, so that tells me I did something. I hate computers! You don’t have to be hitting a delete key... if you have a section highlighted and then type, whoosh, it’s gone and replaced by the new typing. Easy to do if you aren’t looking at the screen while typing. 3 2 1
