I know exactly what you mean, Albert. Every death is totally sad. And it is sad that anyone's death should just be classed a merely part of some statistic.

I'm reminded of John Donne's "No Man Is An Island":

  Reveal hidden contents

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

John Donne, 1624

My cousin recited this poem at my sister's memorial service.

Hospitals here are flying their flags at half staff in honor of the people who have died from the virus.  :(

I thought Gov Cuomo ordered flags be flown at half staff at public buildings across NY. I know that Gov Wolf ordered it so in PA.

Likewise, Gov. Whitmer ordered it so for Michigan.

4 Celcius here... feels like 0, but it's sunny now and again. Have fun!

It's currently 61/16° and breezy here with bright sunshine. Decidely cooler than yesterday's 84/29°.

Aloha Dughlas hoping your well today:hug::kiss:

Greetings Albert. The day started well and accomplished some of what I'd hoped but then my head forced me to take a respite for the afternoon. Thank you for asking.

That looks tasty. I think if I were to use pears in place of the apples I would also substitute gorgonzola for the cheddar.

There was a similar salad with pears, but dressed with maple-bacon vinaigrette. I chose not to include it, however, because I know your Mum isn't fond of bacon.   :)

That also sounds good Dughlas:yes:

I have a distinct fondness for pears with blue cheese. I very much enjoy the juxtaposition of sweet juicy pear and the pungency of the cheese.

A cheese, fruit and cured meat board from Lady & Larder. Lady & Larder has opened a takeout provisions shop called Lady Bodega to keep the business afloat during the coronavirus outbreak. They are also a distribution center for produce boxes.

This cheese shop lost 90% of it business over night:o
