My builder is due back with me shortly (hopefully by the end of this week), and one of the jobs on his list is to hang a gateway at the entrance to that driveway, which will mean I can start parking my car off the main street. Currently there's just a fixed wooden fence across the entrance. Well, when I unlocked the gate leading out from the back of my property to look at the driveway, I found that at the far end of it (furthest from the main road) there is riot of wild blackberries growing. So that meant that all thoughts of strimming were put aside, and I headed into the house for a small bucket to put the juicy berries in. Three quarters of an hour later I had picked a kilogramme of them; enough to make several jars of jam. They're in the fridge at the moment. If I don't find time for jam making in the next thirty-six hours, they'll probably get moved to the deep freeze until I do. I've since strimmed the drive down as far as just past the gate into the back of my property. I've left the bramble patch for the time being. I'd say I'll get a few more kilos of ripe fruit off them before they get past their prime. . Unless the neighbourhood kids find them... 2 5 1

Albert1434 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Australia: Snakes crash through roof of house A man in Australia got a shock when he returned home to find two snakes had crashed through his ceiling and were slithering around his Queensland house. David Tate found one snake in his bedroom and another in the living room on Monday. They weighed 22kg (3.4 stone) between them. 1 1 3

I had my main meal at midday. I made baked macaroni and cheese. I don't know which cheese varieties were in it because I back last fall I had remnants of several different cheeses in the refrigerator when it was time to head to Mum's. I tossed them all into the Cuisinart and chopped them up together before putting the mix into the freezer for later use. It has been a cool damp miserable day, my head hurts so I was in need of comfort food hence the mac 'n cheese. It was very good. I topped it with some medium hot salsa when I dished it up. There are enough leftovers to provide two more servings. Those have been portioned out to go into the freezer. 1 4 1

Oh how fortuitous ... it turned out to be a berry good day for you. If it was left to me I would freeze those berries and make jam later this winter. Nothing like bringing the rich scent of late summer into the house when it cold and dreary outdoors. 1 1 4
