Popular Post Marty Posted December 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 12, 2020 (edited) Well it's just after midnight here. So I'm going to have my cocoa and head to bed. Good night, all! But before I go, perhaps I should comment on this post of mine from yesterday (Thursday): On 12/10/2020 at 1:50 PM, Marty said: With all this talk of the year 1959 I decided, whilst we're still actually on page 1959, to share this photo that was taken that summer (probably around June or early July). It shows the fourteen kids from my primary school who had been successful in the State held Eleven-Plus examinations that year and were destined to go on to Grammar School for their second-level education. Spoiler Yes, I'm in there somewhere. The two of you who hazarded a guess (both Gary and Clo) correctly spotted that I was in the middle of the front row. Well done! I was actually surprised you could recognise the me of 61 years ago. I might share a photo one day that was taken six years earlier than this one that I am also in, and see if you can find me in that one. Be good if you are able, because neither me nor any of my six siblings are able to do so with certainty. I've also got a photo taken in my last year at grammar school (1966) of me and all the other boys (young men) in my class that I plan to share when we reach page 1966 (if I remember in time). Ut might be tricky as me and my cousin Margot are only a year apart (and yes all 3 girls' names are very similar) Edited December 12, 2020 by clochette 5 2

Hide contents She would also often complain that: A woman's work is never done. But I do like the idea of solid wood instead of veneer. My current kitchen table is made of solid pine. I'm not totally happy with it, though, as it's more in the style of a large picnic table than a kitchen table. It was the table I used as my office desk in the community centre where I used to work. A couple of years back, when I called in to visit, there was a skip outside with some old office furniture thrown in. When I asked what was going on, the manager said they were "modernising", and said the table was going to be put in the skip as well. I said "Oh not, it isn't!" got my toolkit out of my car boot, disassembled the table, and threw it in the back of my car. It was only when I bought this new, old, place that it finally got reassembled. This mahogany is really dense... not typical of some of today's mahogany which is grown faster. It's almost impervious to water, and I bought some Walrus Oil (not really oil from a walrus) for treating it. I did find enough pieces in my wood stall to replace the veneered ones. Trouble is I have to hand sand a lot of varnish off two of the pieces. I found some at a store 25 minutes away... $25.00 for a seven foot board(1x4.5). 5 1
