Only been to three of the islands, but that has always been without a doubt my favorite.  I haven’t been in nearly 30 years though so I imagine it’s changed a bit.

Yes, they bite and the venom can be painful. I got bitten at 10yo and had a big red blotch on my leg that was hot then itchy, bluefish itchy but I survived.

I think the genitalia reference might be from the country music song, There's a Redback on my Toilet Seat.
