Like Page, I ate soap, but not more than two or three times. Mom rarely threatened punishment. She preferred the guilt treatment. However, swearing was her big exception to the don't punish the kids rule. She did rat us out to dad. That led to a few spankings, but those spankings were also just a few, sounded loud, but barely stung thru the clothes, and performed in the bathroom with the door closed.
