This was the issue with Murder She Wrote back in the 80s.  A tiny town in Maine had a higher murder rate than Detroit.

Oh it was worse if you were a guest star.  If you said the words “Hi, Aunt Jessica,” that was an automatic death sentence for you or your closest friend/significant other.  What a crazy tv series.
