I am not arachnophobic, since by definition that is an unreasonable fear, but spiders are killed on sight in my home. Of course, allergy is a good reason to worry about spiders in the house, and I'm not dissing people who fear spiders, since I panic when I meet a wasp. But maybe asking someone to put them outside rather than kill them could achieve the same purpose of avoiding contact ? 6 1

They can have the attic, and basement if they want em. Stay outta my bedroom! And bugs of any sort are verboten in my kitchen! Don't get me wrong, I am not a vicious insect killer. When camping I tollerate all sorts of multilegged critters. I am in their teritory after all. But in MY house... 1 7

And yes, I'm not proud to kill spiders but I have an unreasonable fear of them so I do when I can't do otherwise. I did not do it for the pleasure or by cruelty or just because. They eat flies and mosquitoes which are much more annoying, and in some cases carry disease. I can understand putting it outside, but killing a native European spider is senseless (the most polite word I could come up with). Australians are excused for swatting their venomous ones, lol, but even they should be grateful to have fly-killing creatures around. Very very true, but I have this irrational fear they will crawl in my mouth when I sleep (please--no pictures or gifs, folks ), and therefore... The way I see it, they have predators outside my house, and this ain't no safe haven, so they have to be on the lookout for a fly swatter when they move into my territory. I wish I didn't have this fear, but I do.... 4 1 2

I am not arachniphobic, since by definition that is an unreasonable fear, but spiders are killed on sight in my home. Not only is it a bug that has invaded my ( human) space, i seem to have an allergy. A teensy one walked over my cheek while cleaning a storage area at work, something we called a pallet spider as they seemed to love the pallet storage pile. I simply brushed it away, no freak out. The following morning i woke to half my face swollen to the point i could not open my right eye at all. Once the meds reduced the swelling a line of about 8 bites could be seen across the cheek. Hey, Kitt. I know why I have my fear... so I shouldn't call it irrational, but it is deep seated and real. Besides, I've woken up with spider bites that hurt for days and days, and look awful, so If I see one, he's history. 6 1
