"No Matter What" by BoyZone. It's the lyrics, man! They perfectly describe me and my BF and our relationship. I adopted the first stanza is my signature.

No matter what they tell us

No matter what they do

No matter what they teach us

What we believe is true

No matter what they call us

However they attack

No matter where they take us

We'll find our own way back

I can't deny what I believe

I can't be what I'm not

I know our love's forever

I know, no matter what

If only tears were laughter

If only night was day

If only prayers were answered

Then we would hear God say

No matter what they tell you

No matter what they do

No matter what they teach you

What we believe is true

And I will keep you safe and strong

And shelter from the storm

No matter where it's barren

A dream is being born

No matter who they follow

No matter where they lead

No matter how they judge us

I'll be everyone you need

No matter if the sun don't shine

Or if the skies are blue

No matter what the end is

My life began with you

I can't deny what I believe

I can't be what I'm not

I know this love's forever

That's all that matters now

No matter what

No matter what

No, no matter

That's all that matters to me

Mine changes... I have way too many moodswings, so my soundtrack would have to have a song per mood. I'll post back if I find one versatile enough to work anytime...

I have to agree with Razor, but if I had to pick a soundtrack for my life, it would have to be The Wall by Pink Floyd. Not any particualr song, but the whole CD (is there any other way to listen to The Wall?)

This song doesn't exactly encompass my life, but I heard it for the first time just the other day at work and it was one of those songs that really seems to hit home. I found it online just for this thread!! You can actually hear it here too.

Hmmm, tough question. If I had to narrow it down I would say maybe John Mayer's 'No Such Thing'....or maybe Our Lady Peace's 'Innocent'

But yeah, mostly songs match emotion not my whole life :P

I FOUND IT! Well, I just happened to hear a snatch of it coming from something the other day, and remembered an old song...

Don't Let Me Get Me.... by Pink!

Even though I absolutely loathe the color pink, the singer is a different story. :) And that particular song does sort of sum up my anxious, self-destructive, weirdo kind of self. :D It matches quite nicely to my predominant mood. So while I would have to say that it would not be a CONSTANT, it is pretty generally the song I'd pick.

I realize few will understand, but Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" by Leonard Bernstein and the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, has defined my life better than any song, poem, or piece of narrative.

If it has to be a song, then Bob Dylan's "Beyond the Horizon" comes close. Maybe Johnny Mercer's lyrics to "Moon River."

Hard to say, as I've always felt "Rhapsody in Blue" pretty well described me. It doesn't have any words, but sometimes words are necessary.

I remember several songs, and have to bring them all, because I cannot choose only one which " fits my life".

They are :

" Blowin in the wind" and "The times they are changing" (Bob Dylan)

"Where have all the flowers gone" (Peter, Paul and Mary, a folk singing group of the 1960s)

"What a wonderful life" (Louis Armstrong)

"Summer time" From "Porgy and Bess" (Billie Holiday)

And last but not least:

"Amazing Grace" (Joan Baez)

Not to forget:

An American translation from a French song : "My way" (Frank Sinatra).

I know, It's a very old-fashioned choice, but I am what I am :2thumbs:

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. I have to pick a tune that has no words since I never pay attention to a songs lyrics.

Wow, I would pick the same tune. I don't know which movement though; I'm torn between the 1st and the 3rd.

First Movement

Third Movement

By the way, I also like the 8th sonata.

Beethoven Sonata No. 8

(Im a HUGE music buff jus to let you guys know beforehand)

Totally forgot about song with no words. Either Beethoven's Third Symphony (the best imo). Or for you music buffs (ME!!), Mahler's 9th symphony (he broke the curse with number 10 (which he renamed to a sonata i believe).

Maybe Mendel's 2nd quartet (the name escapes me). I love how words mean nothing till you put something to it.

I never got around to learning the 3rd, but I don't think either movement describes me anyway. I do like to play the first movement. It's not that hard, and people recognize it, even with my playing.

By the way, I also like the 8th sonata.

I do, too. It is more fun to play than any other Beethoven I can think of.

I certainly hope no one thinks of "Path

I would definately relate to the first movement. My MP3 player came with a few classical works pre-loaded to it, including the first movement. I remember one day staying after classes with my best friend so that he could give a presentation on something for one of his classes, and I sat there playing it over and over, and by the time he was finished with his presentation, I had to 'snap' back into reality. I was a very happy person back then, and so now listening to the music that I listened to back then, and looking at pictures of the cars that I drove then brings me back there. I suppose it keeps me sane nowadays lol.

mmm....I couldn't choose a song for my life. Can't think of anything that fits completely.

I can say some songs that...mean the most to me if that makes sence.

They'd be:

Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day (I think)

Nothing Else Matters by Mettalica

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin

If I lived in Tennessee, it'd be "Walking In Memphis" by Marc Cohn/Lonestar

But really it's gotta be "Starts With Goodbye" by Carrie Underwood

OR "Broken Wing" by Martina McBride

Both are very country songs, and neither are very popular (at least not right now, Broken Wing might've been in the past)

Here are the choruses:

"Starts With Goobye"

I guess it's gonna have to hurt

I guess I'm gonna have to cry

And let go of some things I love

To get onto the other side

I guess it's gonna break me down

Like falling when you're trying to fly

It's sad but sometimes moving on

For the rest of your life

Starts with goodbye

"Broken Wing"

And with a broken wing

She still sings

She keeps an eye on the sky

With a broken wing

She carries her dreams

Man you ought to see her fly

And while ya'll are on classical music: "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" by TSO

It changes. When I'm in a good mood it's Beethoven's 9th 4th movement (yeah, Ode to Joy is overplayed but I love it anyway). Everything other mood chances are the Dead Kennedy's "Holiday in Cambodia" works. Then again I might be being slightly melodramatic tonight.

"It's tough kid, but it's life."

I agree with Metallica completely. Nothing else matters might sound depressing but it exudes quiet courage and resolution, plus the message suits my attitudes perfectly. In my angrier moments I find Marilyn Manson's Disposable Teens comes closer "Yeah Im a teen distortion/ survived abortion/ a rebel from the waist down". There are plenty of songs I could have put here for similar reasons but I wouldnt say that this defines my life though, because it only represents one aspect of my life.

There's one other song that springs to mind, Billy Joels Piano Man. I don't know why but it never fails to make me feel happy whenever I hear it. It's bittersweet and funny, profound and full of life in every shade of grey. I might not have lived long enough to fully appreciate it yet but it makes me smile whenever I hear it and for now I think that's enough.

Piano Man

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday

The regular crowd shuffles in

There's an old man sitting next to me

Makin' love to his tonic and gin

He says, "Son, can you play me a melody?

I'm not really sure how it goes

But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete

When I wore a younger man's clothes"

La la la, de de da

La la, de de da da da

Chorus:

Sing us a song, you're the piano man

Sing us a song tonight

Well, we're all in the mood for a melody

And you've got us feelin' alright

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine

He gets me my drinks for free

And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke

But there's someplace that he'd rather be

He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me."

As the smile ran away from his face

"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star

If I could get out of this place"

Oh, la la la, de de da

La la, de de da da da

Now Paul is a real estate novelist

Who never had time for a wife

And he's talkin' with Davy who's still in the navy

And probably will be for life

And the waitress is practicing politics

As the businessmen slowly get stoned

Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness

But it's better than drinkin' alone

Chorus

It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday

And the manager gives me a smile

'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see

To forget about life for a while

And the piano, it sounds like a carnival

And the microphone smells like a beer

And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar

And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"

Oh, la la la, de de da

La la, de de da da da
